V-Nose Tongue Box - where to buy?

Postby 4x4chvy » Tue Feb 22, 2011 5:00 pm

Can anyone tell me if there is such a thing?
My CT has a short, short tongue space. I've looked all over the internet, gone to Home Depot, Lowes, Northern Tool, Harbor Freight...no luck.
The tongue is 25" across the back, 12" across the front and 14" deep front to back - pretty small.
Thx in advance.

Tongue Box?

Postby Nitroxjunkie71 » Tue Feb 22, 2011 5:48 pm

I don't have a V-Nose but if I did, I think I would build an internal tongue box and install an RV access door. It's only a suggestion but I think it would work well.

The Deepest spot in Lake Superior, the largest of the Great Lakes is 1,333 feet or about 222 fathoms. This profound depth could easily contain the entire 1,250' Empire State Building, even with a 50-foot-tall King Kong perched atop.

Outstanding idea!
I'd definitely feel safer with the stuff inside...
Building an interior box is way beyond my skill level. I know others here will be able to do it no problem.

'Preciate the link to toolboxes4less. They DO have a small one (1701280).

But building that is way beyond my skill level :(

Just build it out of plywood, it doesn't need to look good. It's inside, won't be in the weather and if incorporated with interior cabinets you won't even see it. I looked on eBay for an access door and you can find them for $2? dollars. That sure beats buying a tongue box.

4x4

I have a V-nose also and I got my storage box from Tractor Supply. I think it cost about $85 it measures 32"L x 14 3/4"W x 13"D. I drilled holes in the bottom of box and used 4 U-bolts to attach it to the frame.

Here ..

Or, maybe here ..

I did see a small steel one at Harbor Freight this weekend (different then the one on their website) that might work.

Careful with the square boxes, in a tight turn your bumper could hit it. :?

Good luck 8)
