My tv set up for better gas mileage

Postby b.bodemer » Mon Aug 29, 2011 4:48 pm

Believe it or not this set up, of my truck's side rails and cargo box, helped me a lot with my gas mileage on the first trip driving almost 800 miles.

The Sears cargo box is not as streamlined and small as a Thule or Yakima and I think that the size actually helped me.

I remembered that when I towed the trailer home from the dealer(4 hours) that my mileage was not great using just my truck with a vinyl cover on the bed only.

Barb I can see where the air would be forced up and over your trailer

If someone were going to design a wind wing I doubt if they would come up with a layout like yours, but as they say if it works it works.

Interesting!

Barb,

I wonder if your side boards also helped too? I can see that without either or both, the air could bend around your cab and slam right into your CTC.

I'll keep this in mind.

Thank you for posting your experiences.

Take care,
Tom
