Converting Cargo Trailers into TTTs

The almost finished first

Postby k1hog » Wed Mar 21, 2012 12:03 pm

The almost finished first, as all free time was dedicated to the build, I am now posting my cargo trailer conversion.

I would like to think each and every one of you that has posted on this forum as I have gained the information needed to build this conversion.

The cargo trailer is a Cargo Craft 7X14, I ordered the trailer with extra chrome and diamond plate with insulated side walls only. The walls have one inch foam insulation, and the ceiling has foil bubble, one inch very good foam, and ¾ inch very good foam. I used the portable air conditioner that I all ready had, to very much controversy. The trailer has an RV control center, inverter, two RV batteries, LED lighting, RV toilet, black water holding tank, 12 volt Jensen TV, electronics, 13 inch memory foam bed, refrigerator, air conditioner, toaster oven, and single burner stove. Not much of the trim has been install or the upper cabnets. Our first camping trip with the trailer was weekend last. The weather was close to 90 with no shade, and the trailer stayed very cold, which is the way DW and I like it.

One of our casino’s has a nice RV park, and close to the RV parts place and Lowes. I went to Lowes twice and the RV parts place once to get parts that were required to tweak the conversion. When I pulled in to the RV park a very nice attendant asked “are you going to stay in that” what a strange look on her face. I said yes and the check in was completed. I found my spot, backed in, and set up, which went very well. While inside a knock was heard at the door. I opened the door, and found two campers that were so excited to see what I had, we talked for quite a while, they were amazed. We had a great weekend and are looking forward to a trip to Gulf Shores the in of the month.

The conversion is not 100% but real close, so minor tweaks and such, but I think it turned out very well. I have posted a picture of the trailer at the RV park. If you have questions about anything let me know. I will post more pictures as time permits.

Thanks ALL.

Johnnie
