Lets see your tongue boxes (and give me some ideas)

So after hacking and welding (aka paying a buddy in beer) up a modified jack handle.

I now have room on my tongue to mount a box, and more importantly can use my drill to raise and lower my jack!

I'm looking to put my battery and a propane tank on it and was hoping to see some ideas of home-made solutions. This is also the fall back spot should I go w/ a mini-split a/c system. It'll likely be made of wood, with a slim possibility of diamond plate. Its a v-nose (see my snow-mobile thread) so I don't have a ton of room. I can definitely fit a dual propane set-up, but that doesn't leave much room for the battery so I'm leaning toward a single larger bottle.

Anyway thanks for the ideas.
Cheers,

Here's my v-nose setup. I might put a LP tank in the middle eventually.

Hi cornfused,
Nice boxes and mount ... this still leaves the tongue area open for that propane bottle & looks like enough room to get a battery in there also ... great job :applause: :applause:

Yes, those are the "more expensive" of the two that HF sells. I bedlinered them with Herculiner to protect them from road debris.

Desert Rat, my batteries, (two 220 amp/hr golf cart bats) are there hidden in the box on the right.

Our first tear did not have a tongue box and I had a serious case of tongue box envy. Compass Rose has the biggest one I could find. Behind the box are a 6" pipe for the stinky slinky and a 4" for tent/tarp poles.

Shadow Catcher,
I like this box. But I tried to search the,web for both a brand name of Compas Rose and a company named Compas Rose and did not come close to what you are showing. Can you steer me in the right dircetion to search for it?

Thanks,
Bob

I like this one. I want to build something even bigger. (From LenB, 2006)

I've never liked the shape of mine but it sure does work well:

I always meant to go back and put a curved lid on it but never got around to it....

Bruce,

Nice. I almost typed "outside the box" design, but what I mean is VERY interesting design. Good one.

127052. Still going to put on some dark bands, corners and edging, but this is one sheet of plywood. (Almost)
