Yes Bob, I must slow down. My wife tells me that all the time. I am retired she,says....why rush. Guess that is the NY yankee in me, always in a hurry.

No we are staying in a rented house trightmon the Atlantic Beach front his time with another couple for a week. I do not care if I catch fish. Just being at the beach with an "Apple Ugly" and a Coors Light is wonderful. Now,to you who cannot guess what an Apple Ugly is, it is a legend from Buxton, NC which is to die for. A big deep fried apple pastry. Sinfull yes, but also very very good. I never check my blood sugar levels those days.

I do plan on making many runs to Hatteras with the camper. And I will be ready to go off the grid there which I think means staying at the NPS camp site on the beach edge.

And Bob, please check for a PM I sent you over on the TearJerkers forum. It is about the campout at Fort Chiswell next year.

Checked my PM there, nothing.!!

BLUE RIDGE Rambler, Bob and Lynn's 6x14 CT

Postby aggie79 » Wed Oct 21, 2015 9:55 pm

Ouch Bob,
Sorry to see the table saw gotcha. Glad you got back on the horse again and started doing projects.

BTW, I'm part of the fraternity too. I've got a nice taper on the thumb side of my right middle finger. It sort of matches the chamfer that I have on my left middle finger from a panel saw accident about 35 years ago.

Fishing is one of those bucket list items I want to do. You've given me hope that I'll be able to when I retire.

Bob, I sent it to myself, that is why you cannot see it. I tried to send it again to ypu and it keeps failing. So I cut and pasted it in this forum's PM to ypu.

Yes aggie, you have got to add fishing to your retirement list. It gives you many more possibilities for what to do later. The trip is the adventure. Catching fish does not have to happen.

I go camping for a month or two and look what happens while I'm gone... :frightened:

Dang, Bob, use jigs, guards, featherboards, and especially push sticks!!

Sorry you got hurt, but you are one lucky guy to have the thumb still. Heal up quickly and enjoy your time with your wife and friends. Catch some nice fish, but keep your thumb out of the water!

Lets see, jigs...have not made any yet. :o

Featherboards, yes I have them, but they are buried in piles of construction stuff. Not good.

Push sticks....absolutely. In fact I need a new one as the plastic one I have is now all chewed up from contact with the blade. Thank goodness for them. :D

Blade guard....now where did I put it?.......must confess I do not even know where it is. Very bad!

Just being in a hurry, tired and careless.....that is my downfall.....will definitely be on my guard from now on.

Thank you Cindy. Funny how some bad things make you glad for other things.

Re: BLUE RIDGE Rambler, Bob and Lynn's 6x14 CT

Postby lrrowe » Sat Nov 07, 2015 1:27 pm

My hunting deadline has hit me. I leave for the George Washington National Forest (west of Churchville, VA) for my 1-2 week hunting trip with my trailer having 1 slow year's worth of improvements made to it since my basic (means just the trailer with no inside work other then insulation added to it) experience one year ago.

Image

I will come back to the forum with new photos and stories to tell. I have no internet out there, so I will be absent starting tomorrow AM unless we get rained out and head to the local diner for some eats.

Here are many shots of my latest work. Much is unstained or unpainted as I just did not have enough time and my very irritating back pain and my stupid cutting of my thumb on my table saw just plan old held me back. Do a little work, rest, do a little more chores and then work on the trailer. I see a new back surgeon from UVA immediately after the hunt. I pray for him to say, "I can fix you".

These are my fold up bed results. I will make another for the other side after hunting.
The outer leg supports in the back are temporary. I will make hinged ones for it later.

BED FOLDED UP
Image

BED DOWN
My wife wanted to be able to easily get up in the middle of the night for pee trips. Twin bed set gives us a very narrow walkway for her in the middle of the night.
We purchased two extra large 6" memory foam mattresses from Bed, Bath and Beyond and I cut 8 inches off the side and about the same off the end with an old electric cutting knife. It was very easy to do. We will custom secure the covers after the hunting trip.
Image

ELECTRICAL WORK STARTED SO FAR
One major issues. I cannot find the connection leads for several lamps. I know I ran them to my front section for the control panel, but I cannot locate them. What a bummer. :x It will have to wait til December after hunting.
Image

BATTERY BOX
Yes these are low cost Duracel's from Sam's Club. They will work just fine til LI ones are priced right for me. 220 amps or something like that. The lid top has a vent to the outside.
Image

HEATER WORK FROM WATER HEATER
Image

AMP AND THERMOSTAT FOR HEATER (In Centigrade by mistake). I have to find a permanet home for them. Not an easy solution given the way I built this setup.
Image

CABINETS Counter Tops are plywood for this trip. Still playing with ideas for permanence ones. Once thing for sure. They will be hinged to some sort so I can get all the electrical and heater components. The large opening with the Coke boxes is where my refrigerator was. Unfortunatly it bit the dust and now I think I replace it with a 12V TruckFridge LF-130 (I think that is the correct model) in January.

I have Allure vinyl flooring to install, but I chose to delay it's installation til after my hunting trip. You know....muddy boots and all that.

Image

Image

UNMOUNTED CABINET DOORS. I tried screen in front of the heaters for air flow, but I really need some fancy sheet metal stamping here.
I also tried burlap in from of the water tank but it will not work out. So again, I am looking for sheet metal stampings.
The last one shows one insert I made for the electrical section.

Boy oh Boy, That is really coming along nicely. I just keep telling myself "It's not a race, its a marathon" the end result is what really matters. Have a great hunting trip. If you end up with any "extra" venison jerky I can probably help ya out with that. :D
