Kinks in bed plan. I used a different build than originally planned-plan A. I have mounted "slides" to CT. I built a bed frame and its mounted to "slides". I'm not finished with the lift idea and I'm not sure plan B will be the final plan.
Here is a pic with my couch/dinette cushions on it.

Its sort of mine!

Postby Padilen » Tue Jun 02, 2015 10:25 pm

I'm still learning. Got springs and cable on. But either cable isn't tight enough or springs and strong enough. I had pre drilled holes for stops. Found that I need top stops as well as the bottom stops. I missed drilled a "top stop" and had to file it oval. I did to much. I have carpal tunnel and nerve damage in my arms and hands. So I'll have to try shortening cables another day.

It seems to work- not perfect but I'll keep at it.

Springs didn't seem heavy enough. So I got some heavier ones. That was a mistake. They prevented me from be able to lower the bed. Although they did hold it up all the way. In my attempt to lower the bed a pulley moved and the other pulley blew out. Spring slammed it to floor and bent parts flew all over. I survived. So I'm trying another idea before I scrap the idea.

Plan C failed. I went back ( plan B) to the garage door install company. He said I thought those were the wrong springs after you left. Did you cuss me out? So he gave me 2 other springs (shorter) with pulleys.
It works. Not smoothly but it does work. I think 2 people could do it smoothly. I got mattress in it a tried it out for about 2 hours. But had to get something in house so I stayed.
Need to get AC working next. I need the bed and fresh air and a place for my dog if I go to my family reunion, in 11 days.

I also see a problem with my Hi toilet and my raised stool mount! Yep to high!
I talked to a retired RV dealer. He said he'd help me with my wiring plumbing and modifying my awning !

Ordered spare tire, and I'm getting guard company's AC/DC panel. Also bought a gallon of paint- but undecided if I'll paint floor.

I removed everything from the floor and cleaned floor. Went and got my spare tire. Came home intending to paint floor, but storm came and power went. I also scuffed my pickup front bumper on some concrete. I'm not use to a low bumper! My Jeep had a higher bumper plus I lifted it 2".

For the shower? I have 3 ideas.
1- what we call milk house wall - or FRB.
2- a 3-5 piece shower surround
3 - no wall or 1/2 wall and shower curtains.
My build is a slow in flux kind of thing.
Tonight I'm thinking of air mattress instead of memory foam. As I need a new mattress on my bed at home & already have new memory foam waiting for CT.

I decided just to use 1/4" paneling and paint it with a high quality exterior paint. My thinking is that it will not be subjected to any worse conditions then one sees on exterior walls and my showers will not be steaming hot water run for minutes at a time. They will be more of "navy shower" types. Just for the heck of it, I will coat the interior side (against the insulation) with polyurethane.

I also have a pan very similar to yours
