Couple weeks ago I opened my mom's trailer. I noticed floor by slide out was wet. We thought slide seal had leaked. Tuesday morning my mom calls and told me "water everywhere"! So I load up some tools and head down. Shower hot water line had a drip. Wasn't sure it it was fitting or seal. So I replaced fitting, with s shark bite. Put it all back together a few times. Then cold water leaked . Got cold water rigged with different parts. No shower leaks.
But on too water leak in rest of trailer. Mover the carpet runners that cover the split/cracked vinyl flooring. It split a few years ago due to weather - at least that's what RV dealer said. Water on an under flooring. Moved chair and heater, wall was wet under a window.
"Mom was the window opened when it rained"?
"No", "that's condensation".
"Mom, if it was condensation all your windows would be sweating".
She opens the door and looks outside at the window.
The weather strip is pulled out of top of window! The rolled up awning's edge is over this window so a lot of water hits it. I reinstalled seal with some Lexal sealant to hold it in.
First rain was yesterday, doesn't seem to be leaking !

Spent 3 days/nights in TAZ camping stuff work. Had electric hooked up. Enjoyed it a lot.
I'm going to order a roof vent with fan. Only one day was extremely hot. The little fan and little window weren't helpful. I'll plan on two but just one for now.
My mom's trailer, well leaks seem fixed. But entry door latch lock broke. This is one that was recalled that I couldn't get help on. She bought a new one for 130$ and then needed a different screw driver. I was loaded heading home or I'd have gone to her aid. If she can't get it in I'll run down tomorrow.
So along with roof vent, I'm needing more storage so I'm not loading unloading so much. I think the on demand heater can go over fender. One propane tank will fit on tongue. AC I'm just undecided on.
Weather-wind prevented me from using awning. So I'm not sure how much that will help with heat gain.

Did you coat your roof with Henry's 587? If not it makes a huge difference in heat gain. Well worth the $30 for a gallon. Plus it helps protect your roof seams.

I have the stuff just have to get it on. Didnt have enough room up top to do in my pole barn over winter. Trees dropping to many seeds now, may have to "borrow" my friends big pole barn.

How much would you need for a 6 x 12 trailer? Thank you.
Smart enough to know that I still have a lot to learn.

I used the 587 on 6x12 flat nose and 1 gal covered well 2 coats. I used a deep roller. Made a huge difference on roof temp and ability to cool cabin. 2 years still looks good.

Thanks McDave,

Your 6x12 roof = 72 sq ft x 2 coats= 144 sq ft. from one gallon of paint. Evidently, the Henry's specs of 100 sq ft per gallon are skewed to induce the purchase of about 44% more product than what is needed.

Powered roof vent fan ordered. My trailer got to 100° inside, on a upper 70° -low 80°'s day.
I'm placing it where in the future if I decide on a Colman Mach 8 cub it can go. I need to find out if my generator will start one.
While my TAZ is a simple camper I like it's lay out. I'm thinking any re design may prove dissatisfying. But I'm looking at some changes.
One change asap is new ramp locks.. As I forgot my keys and had to cut them off.
I'm having less cold & then scalding showers. I've set flow at lowest and temp too. Now when showering, I use a mix of hot and cold. Temps still drop and rise but not has bad.

Roof vent fan arrived. I read the limited info on a "rain" cover. Bought the old standard- won't work. On it's info paper it states not recommend for fan units. Great, but that's not.even the problem, it's that vent has quick connect tabs. So you have to buy the newer and over twice as expensive cover. I've ordered it and can still install vent without it. But it's raining and then going to be in the 90's with high humidity.

Um supposed to be working on my vent. Instead of creeping aroun under Taz .
I noticed a tie down looked loose. So I pulled a panel of insulation. If anyone doubts cutting it tight works, I just spent an hour getting it out.
They were loose, I'd used lock washers not locknut's on those 4. Loctite on them now. I also installed those when my hands were numb. So considering that an usage, not bad. The one that looked loose I got a full turn on the nut the others only a 1/4. Then loosened them all and added the loctite. I also marked which panel they are hidden by.

Roof vent fan is installed. Interior will not be done untill probably this fall. I have a lot to deconstruct to hide wires and then add trim ring.

I've talked to my restorer friend, he gave me some wheels (rims no tires) that bolt on correctly. I'll try to get it in pole barn for winter with them. Also his brother is going to give me a price for my propane mount.
I've got another idea for TAZ, hopefully I get it planned out soon. I've decided for now,not to get another AC.
