The generator will not always start the AC on Eco. Since fridge is on after being off all day I decided not to turn it off. I can check later and see if it's both that cause the issue.
One other item
I switched my bikes handle bars back to a stock bend with about 1/2 risers. Now my hand guards hit my folding shelf

I don't think the reason it wont start with or without the hard start cap in this case is due primarily to startup current . My 6000 BTU would not either, but the 8000 BTU does. I think it is the sensitivity of the brown out circuitry in the AC itself and not the Generator in the case of the 6000 BTU unit.

The momentary voltage drop before the generator picks up trips a relay im the AC that has to time out. That is what happened in my case.

A The new AC has some sort of softer start so there is not that momentary drop... or at least not as much. The gen barely misses a beat, and the AC doesn't trip back off so its brownout circuit must not get upset or react as quickly. If I had time and some data acquisition gear, I'd love to instrument the circuits to really figure out if it is tje chicken or the egg first. :-)

Where the starter caps help is when the generators are borderline at starting the AC and the generator itself faults/overloads. There is a difference in the two problems, but same result.

It was worth a try. Many folks claimed it would help in Eco mode, but I have only witnessed it work in the case where the generator faulted. Tommy's case was like that and the hard start cap made the difference.

Hang on to that cap. You may need it someday. I used the one I bought on my home AC when it was groaning to start like when it causes lights to flicker. It has been running over a year on it when the AC guy said it is time for a new AC.

I forgot to ask, is your AC faulting or is the Generator faulting? Assume it works fine in full out mode.

Your right it's the brown out, on the AC. The gen "hit's" but it's lag time sets off the low power, and AC defaults. It restarts(fan) but then compressor is off for a while. Then it just is a rerun of this each time compressor starts to run.
What's the new AC you bought a Haier 6000?

It is a GE 8000 BTU. It works on ECO mode.

Ok I think if I get one on close out it will be a 5-6000. We'll see. I'll re check the 10,000 I'm using I'm my house too. Well using isn't really happening as it only got to 72 today.

I want to do more of that; more short impromptu trips To make it more likely to happen though, I have got to simplify the "departing" process. This means I need to reduce the preparations and to be more of a minimalist. I pack and take just way too much...a Boy Scout curse.

Since I heat with wood and have a cat that isn't friendly. It's hard to get a house sitter. Its actually been cold enough this last week for some to turn on their furnace. If mine went below 66 I was going to. With athritis I don't like to be chilled, I just get to sore. I had cut and split wood a couple weeks ago and did myself in. So last 2 weeks I have just been doing to keep going. I had my lower back injection Monday, and 3 hours after getting home. My back and hands felt better. Got up this morning and swelling in my hands was gone. My fingers work again! Odd that they claim my neck is the cause of my hands swelling and pain. I can't make a fist and have no strength. Yet the lower back is where my pain was and my injection. Just happy my hands are working and back pain is gone.

Thats the reason I enjoyed camping off the motorcycle so much. I had ( still have ) a duffle bag that I keep packed that will fit on the luggage rack of my bike. Everything i need except clothes and food will fit inside that duffle. I can literally load the bike with the duffle, food and clothing for 3 days and be on the road in 20 minutes. I've carried the same duffel in the back seat of my truck when I went to the woods for years.
I try to keep the CTC ready the same way. The trailer stays loaded with the things I need except food ,clothes and possibly the ATV or bike. All the items I use camping are dedicated to camping including the 20# propane tanks. After each trip I pull stuff out of the CTC, sweep down the floors, replenish things that need it and then put everything back in the CTC. ADD my food tote, cooler in the truck bed , clothes, load the dog and I can be on the road. Other than loading the atv or bike I can usually be on the road in 30-45 minutes.
I got use to doing it this way when on the bike so that I could come home on Friday after work, load the bike and be in the N. Georgia mtns before dark. Thats a 150-200 mile ride depending on my route.

I actually have a small bag of clothes in mine. Just in case I forget! But I have to load in pickup- propane, hot water heater, antenna, generator & extra waste tank ( take it with always) , wood /charcoal, gas. Extra water container's, and gasoline.
Last time I spent the night at the farm I forgot dog food. It was getting old so I used it and forgot to restock poor Eli had to have treats for dinner and breakfast.
Then load bike as I usually take it.
