Converting Cargo Trailers into TTTs

Boondocking in a Wal-Mart parking lot in Tifton, Ga. Gen running in truck bed, AC running, watching TV and eating dinner with the wife. All is good so far.

Will turn then gen off before I go to bed. It has cooled down enough outside now where the maxair will pull a breeze all night.

Able to pull through two spots. That was one design goal when pulling in parking lots. Just barely fits, but it fits.

I'm not Don of course but here's a link to the awning he used.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01BD ... UTF8&psc=1. Its made by a company named Aleko and its a 13x8. Here's the actual website for the company https://www.alekoawning.com/RV-Awnings-s/1874.htm. currently a 13x8 is $469.00
I'm looking at the same awning for my CTC.

I wish I had the chance to see these links before I installed my Pioneer version by Carefree of Colorada 10' awning. I call it cheap junk. I have at least three significant issues with it.

I really like the Aleko so far. It has been about a year and the quality is good. It all has a good finish. My concern was about the spring loaded drum. That is where the complexity is. So far so good. I'd buy another.

Bob,
I've been holding off on buying for that same reason. We've been using pop up canopies/shelters but I've wanted a attached awning since I saw Don post about his so I saved the link. After our last trip out and making our list of "upgrades" this has moved closer to the top of the list.

Good decision Martin. I love the coverage the awning gives, but curse every time I put it up and take it down. It should be easy, but it binds and I had to replace 2 bottom cast brackets which snapped during installation. Now the fully extended latches designed to hold things open have snapped apart. I use small screw drivers and such through the extension holes; this is until I figure out something better. I will not use their designed parts...as I said, junk. If anyone is considering this model, please PM me and I can elaborate more. Caveat emptor!

I'm glad the boondocking went well for ya. Unrelated to your trip/travels, I noticed that there were several Wally Worlds north of where you stayed that are not as welcoming to overnight parking. I've been researching for my trip down to pick up my trailer hopefully soon. Glad it worked out for you and also the generator in the back of the pickup. That is probably what I will need to do in the future. The generator I'm looking at is a little bigger and heavier than I care to unload all the time. We just have to make sure the exhaust doesn't make it back into the camper.

I feel the same way... but it's a shame that he didn't invite all of us in for supper and a little TV. I mean it gets a little dark out here in the parking lot!

Made it to Vogel St. Park. The SureCall cell phone booster is awesome. 4 bars 3G inside and 1 bar outside with no data. Got the Kingpin ready for the ride tomorrow. Just got dark... Going for a walk. Enjoying this. :-)

Martin, this place is awesome. Tx for the recommendation. Twisty roads look great. Saw a downed biker on the way in however. :-(Image

Don,
Your more than welcome, I'm glad you like the park. Like I said earlier, its one of my favorite parks. Several of us use Vogel State Park as a base camp for rides. Before I built the CTC we rented cabins there or camped in tents. If you get the chance while your in the area you owe it to yourself to check out TWO's of Suches. Its the motorcycle ONLY campground I wrote about earlier. When you leave out of the campground turn left, at HWY 180 which runs behind the park turn left, follow Hwy 180 until you come to HWY 60 (about 11 miles), turn left and you'll be in front of TWO's. If you go in the lodge tell Mary that Rebel and Tammy said hello. Enjoy your visit and rides(s).

Nice ride into Helen, Ga. Enjoyed those roads with turns and hills we do not have in Fl.
