Yup, outdoor swamp cooler (misting), works fine out here where humidity is like hen's teeth.

about that quick disconnect hose and fixture, have one very much like it on my RV for stuff like
you mentioned. Only one problem is you need to DE-pressurize the water system before you
attach or detach it.

Thanks for the tip on de-pressurizing before connecting/disconnecting.

I have the CTC in the driveway and I am starting to prepare for a 3 month road trip. I am not sure why I did not realize this before, but all my AC drain line needed was a vent. I thought it needed some tilt, but it really was not flowing due to a vapor lock. I was cleaning the vents and I noticed water in the hose... it is just was not going anywhere and there was an air lock right at the 90 deg. turn downward. I previously thought it was never getting to the back of the AC and staying in the slinger trough. I put a T in the line right where it drops down and now it just flows with a steady drip as you'd expect. No more slinging or water sitting in in drain pan.

The previous AC did not have an issue because it drained from the side and the hose just dropped down straight from the side. When I put in the 8000 BTU unit, I could not drain from the same side and the only place I felt comfortable drilling was the back right corner. This fix is interesting because if the trailer was not level side to side in favor of the AC drain, it would drip also. All I can figure is it must have just been just enough tilt to overcome the vapor lock and allow the air to travel up the hose with a little more pressure.

In any case, problem solved. Easy fix and no mod needed.

92 deg. F outside with humidity in the 60s. AC has been running about and hour... it has been cycling on and off for a while now. It has the temp at 73 deg (set temp) and humidity at 55% and it is dripping well. Good to go for the summer heat.

I installed the Empire Quick Disconnect Faucet in the outside shower compartment. It works well. The nice thing is the hose takes regular nozzles now so I can still use for a shower or etc.. I think I will buy one of those dial a spray type nozzles. I'll also be able to hook the fan mister hose directly to the pressurized water supply.. which was my motivation.

Hank, it seems to connect and disconnect well with the system pressurized and just the shower valves shut off.

I was thinking you meant the whole trailer depressurized. Lol

In any case, that is no problem and probably how you'd expect it to work.

CTC socialization going well. Lex seems to feel right at home. Bless her heart, she tried 3 times unsuccessfully to jump up the stairs to get in. She is determined. Lex doesn't like me out of her sight. She also tried to jump up into the back seat of the truck. Almost made it and then fell backwards. I had to help her before she hurt herself. It won't be long and she will have it down. Lexus is growing by leaps and bounds. Look at those paws she will grow into.

Had her out to 3 Forks Marsh yesterday for some off leash training. She is progressing well. Will be an awesome traveler.

Made the mister fan. The kit came with 4 jets but was for a larger fan. I cut it down to two jets. I can't take a huge fan with me, but this should do it for sitting under the awning.

It is raining right now. I will see how it works with the CTC pump and the quick connect hose I just installed when I can tomorrow.

I did try it with the garden hose and it mists well with good turbulence from the fan. No good in Florida however. It just gets you wet since it is so humid. Needs humidity 50% or less to work well as I understand it.

BTW.. I wouldn't run this without it being on a GFCI breaker. The motor could get wet in the right conditions. I think I may find a DC fan. Not sure I like the idea of water near the 110VAC motor. The entire chassis is plastic, so that helps.

flboy, Howdy;

Don, great pix of Lexi she's going to be a sweety, a rather good sized sweety.

Must be a newer design. Mine is from 2008. That's good for you.

Don, are those "hold down" brackets next to Lexi on the floor? If so, what kind are they?

Thanks,

Hi Harry. Yes they are. This is the type of wheel chock for these "hold down brackets". You can find them just about anywhere. I don't recall where I got mine, but can be had on Amazon and I've seen them at Harbour Freight. Just Google or Search for "Motorcycle Wheel Chock". I have two of them so I can fit two dirtbikes in with handlebars offset. I kind of designed the space around that.

Image

I think they work well for lighter motorcycles like my KTM 450EXC dirtbike, but would not recommend them for a Heavy bike like my Victory Kingpin. I use a roll in type chock for that. I modified a roll in chock to work with the same bracket for the Kingpin and then drilled one screw anchor in back right side to keep it from shifting left or right (if handle bar turns the chock can turn in bracket. Hard to explain, but it will be obvious if you have one). You can see it in the last picture. This holds the Victory Kingpin exceptionally well with just two tie downs to my E-trac for the side to side stability. But I can pull in and get off the bike and it holds it while I fix the straps. I use it for my KTM-690R because it is better and I have it, although the other type will work.

Long answer to short question, but I wanted to explain how I use them.

FWIW, I'm also using the Harbor Freight wheel chock in my CTC and it works great. I tow an Indian full bagger at nearly 900# with full tank and accessories.
Two bolts secure it to floor with aluminum bus bar reinforced on the underside. I use a couple straps on both sides of the front axle tied to the eyebolts on the wheel chock, along with two straps in the rear tied to factory D-rings at the ramp door.

Last fall I had a small leak in the VHF/UHF antenna seal on the roof after it hit a branch. I noticed the leak due to paneling swelling near the window by the dinette. In any case, this paneling I have does not tolerate water at all and I got tired of looking at the watermarks and swelling, so I have ripped all the paneling off by the dinette and making an upgrade as I redo it. Will post a few pics when it is done.

I am going to be in this CTC for about 3 months straight starting in 16 days, so I figured I'd fix it nice so it doesn't drive me nuts on the road.

Getting there. I am finding out this peel and stick planking doesn't stick well on walls and I even primed the wood.. but I have a plan. This material is for floors.. but I think it looks good on the wall in this case.

I figured the dark wood would look good in contrast to the white.

Still have a few more planks to add under the table then some finish paint, caulk, and etc.. but mostly done. This really changed the look of the dinette area for sure and fixed that swollen panel. I think I am going to like it.
