HALLMARK 6X12 CONVERSION

Postby Tommy B » Tue May 10, 2016 12:45 pm

struggling with the pics but if this works this is were I am at now. I will figure it out and post more with a few questions. 3 months into this with what seems like hundreds of hours. I didn't know weather to use the BUILD JOURNEL forum or this one but maybe the moderators will correct me.141490

Hello Tommy B, and Welcome,
Looking forward to those pics and comments. I am knee deep in the middle of a toy hauler build myself, and yes, many, many hours spent, and problems solved, and hurdles overcome. Still a long way to go, but the weather is gettin' better in Montana and I believe I've gathered up most of what I need, so progress should come faster now.
Lots of help here, and some real good folks.
Enjoy!

Hey Dave. I did figure out the resize issue and will post many helpful pictures. I have to do it from home though. Should be tonight. My rig has a stove, sink, toilet, AC, Heat, and a 20 gallon fresh water tank. I still need to install the toilet, vent pipe, black tank and valves. That is my last BIG hurtle. The bed folds up and I can put my atv or dirt bike in there easy. Just ordered a new door from Hallmark that has a slider window too.

oh yes, and an outside tank less water heater/shower set-up too. I Did not insulate the sides nor the ceiling but I suppose I can always get the ceiling anytime. I do get many water droplets inside that hang from the ceiling when I did use heat and I don't know how to handle that yet. The heater is a little heater buddy. Its Florida and I might see high 30s but usually 40-50s in Ocala where we camp and ride.

A few more. The camp site is how it all started more or less. Love it.

This is the mock black tank I made to spec. I need to figure out a way to temporarily mount it and then mark my 3 inch and 1-1/2 inch hole sites and also mark the ceiling hole spot. Then I will order the tank with the custom fittings done at the factory. I don't know yet if I will strap it or weld it in. The tank is 15 Gallons. I have some reservations here but I will proceed SLOWLY.

I like your approach. I wish I could do things like this on a more simple basis.

Hey Simple is my middle name :D ..But seriously there was/is nothing simple in this. Not for me anyway. Did not have a clue. I'm still a little embarrassed for people to see it sometimes. Looks like white trash trying to make an R.V Is what I think people may think.

One BIG mistake this simple man made was to hook up that perko battery switch wrong. Placed the pos and neg terminals inside the switch. After hooking up the terminal posts outside on the battery ( with the switch on and wired wrong ) I went around to see my new dc lighting work but instead saw the switch giving off white smoke like a fire extinguisher. By The time I was able to remove the post terminal the switch had melted along with the attaching terminal. Almost burnt my trailer up right there. Yeah...

Tommy B, Howdy;

The outlet pipe for your Black tank might probably be a 3" as that is the size used for RVs.
Thought I might mention it before you get to far along. What you have accomplished so far
is outstanding, by-the-way.

We all make bad (notice I did not say stupid) acts. The other day I laid my aluminum ladder against my bench and it made contact with both terminals of my 12 V Sea Doo battery. By the time I smelled the melt down it was too late. Both terminals were melted and the case started to go.

BTW, do not worry about what others might think of your work. You only have to be safe and please yourself.
Bob
