Building the battery box mount.

A bit blurry but there they are. All snug in their new home.


Batteries are mounted. The box is made of polyethylene and doesn't do well in the sun.
I am trying to find a paint or primer that will stick to this stuff. Any suggestions?
The other thought was to make a canvas cover for it.

A flexible paint from an auto parts store used for auto bumpers should do the trick but the canvas cover will probably work just as well.

Krylon Fuzion, maybe.
You may be able to flame treat and clean with 91% isopropyl, of course there are risks. But it's really right up your alley. You can clean with methylhydrate or denatured alcohol and then flame treat with a propane torch, but you need to prime or paint pretty quickly, like10-15min. Obviously, keep the torch away from the alcohol at all times. If you flame it first, you will see it get shiny, almost wet. Then wipe it with 91% on paper towel to remove the release agent.
Check youtube for some demos first.

Plastic kote or krylon fusion. Plastic kote can be peeled off and reapplied.

Thanks everyone for the paint Ideas. I will look into them all.
Took a few days to chase the eclipse. 1,200 miles round trip. Trailer pulled awesome! Averaged around 12 mpg.

Nice Trip Icon, I recognize that stack of antlers. Did you stop by the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar or the Rancher Club? I could see your vending machines working at either of those. Popular spots for tourist. Looks like the Mrs. enjoyed herself. Good for you.

PS. Just a thought on the battery box. There are some faux diamond plate products out there, plastic sheets and vinyl sticker types etc. You might be able to do something with that?
