Does it have a drop beam axle on it? My 6x12 has the drop axle and after one trip I realized the leveling jacks on the back were far to close to the ground even backing into my driveway so I swapped it out for a straight axle. Easy 4" of lift and I thought it might look funny taller but it looks far better. You'll just need to add some sort of a step for getting in and out for the wife. I still need to figure out mine.

Glad you guys had a great trip and I am impressed with the MPG's!

I had a similar experience with my drop axles (dual axles). I had the axles moved to underneath the leaf springs and got the same lift. Well worth the ~$200 I paid a welder to install new perches and move the axles to the other side. I had brakes and etc. to consider, so new axles would have been much more expensive for me.

To give you an idea of what moving the drop axles to bottom of leaf spring looks like. Big difference and rear jacks deploy very easy: Doing it over again, I would have just got straight axles. I did not realize how low the drop axles were and actually paid more for them not thinking it through like I should have. For straight use as a Cargo Trailer on paved roads... drop axles probably are the way to go to keep everything down lower and a smaller step in with the cargo. Not a good trade off for a camper when going on some poorly maintained dirt roads and etc..

To build an awning with readily available components that can be found at any hardware store.

3/4” PVC pipe.

1/2” EMT conduit.

Plastic cutting board.

1” U-bolts, + 2 extra washer for each 1.

Duct-tape.

1” Adjustable Flagpole Bracket. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Evergreen-E ... /100650584

10’ x 12’ White Tarp (cut to 12’ x 6’). https://www.homedepot.com/p/Sigman-10-f ... /203217300
6” Tarp Ball Bungees.

Brass Grommet Fastening Kit. https://www.homedepot.com/p/General-Too ... WD14718361

3/4” PVC Slip Sling Tee. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Formufit-3- ... WD17983408

3/4” PVC Internal Dome Cap. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Formufit-3- ... WD17983408

3/4" PVC alone would not have the required strength needed to build an awning.
To beef-up the PVC pipe we looped 4 layers of duct-tape at 1’ intervals over a 1/2” emt conduit, then inserted inside the 3/4” PVC pipe.

Although we have a middle leg for supporting the front, we decided that it wasn’t needed.

We tested the awning here at home during a rain storm without the middle support.

No problem with 25 MPH wind.

Drilling for the U-bolts from the inside (roof ribs), was difficult in maintaining the same angle (I should’ve made a jig). The result! The U-bolts were uneven on the outside.

Thank you!

Yes it does. I'll take it to a trailer shop and see if we can do what you did.
