Nice! Were you at all tempted to set your wall all the way back and go through the ramp with your ac, allowing ac during the rain? I also remember some around here have mounted their ac in the barn door so that it swung out with the door.

I would think a hinged metal plate under the hole/Ac on the inside that you just flip over the hole when the ramp is down would be a simple solution.

OTTCT - What brand of mini split do you have? I am considering this option.
Thanks,

Hey jwh92020 ,
You may want to look into the PTAC style A/C. (Packaged Terminal Air Conditioner) These are the type you find in motel rooms and many have the heat option. They are designed to be mounted at or just above floor level and leave just the front cover/ faceplate protruding from wall. (approx. 8") The outer cover is normally permanently mounted to the wall and the A/c unit slides into cover from the room side.
I actually own several and use one as a window unit in the den. It just so happened that the windows are 4' wide as are the PTACs I have. I believe mine are 220v units, but I would guess 110v units are available?

McDave-
Thanks for the link. I decided to use the portable I have right now and save the $. I used the same model in another build and it worked great. I just moved my build pics to Photobucket so I can share them. Here is the a/c install. Since this picture was taken, I have wrapped the intake and exhaust hoses and tubes in insulation.
