Thanks ... I hope so. I still need to figure out how to insulate the RV door. I presume the inner panel is removable... we shall see in due course.

The RV man door? It's usually foam filled or in some older ones corrugated cardboard. Mine is aluminum skin outside and a thin FRB like inner skin. All bonded together on an aluminum frame with styrofoam filling.

Me too ... my RV entry door has the aluminum framing, aluminum exterior skin, and FRP inner skin. I assume it has styrofoam sandwiched between the two skins. If so, I will just have to figure out a way to: (i) attach some polyiso foam to the inner side of the door, in which case energy will poor through the aluminum door jams, or else (ii) rig up a removable insulated panel to cover the entire door area. MtnDon did something similar to cover his windows at viewtopic.php?f=42&t=58336&start=255

I thought about a insulating "blanket" roll it up/down. I also want one for rear cargo door and one for a privacy curtain.

Wow... Nice job on the insulation! That will be easy to heat or cool!

Flboy,

Thanks for the encouragement.

After I bought my trailer, I found this trailer forum while searching google for the proper means and methods to insulate a cargo trailer. Google led me to your build page where I saw how you insulated your trailer. It is amazing to me how many people use bubble wrap, fiber glass batt insulation and other totally inadequate means and methods. But for this forum, I might have become one of those poor fools who used a combination of bubble wrap and batt insulation!

I am very grateful for the time and effort you spent posting photos and explaining how and why you did the things you did … not just your insulation, but all the other features you installed, especially the way you installed your air conditioner. The same goes for all the other guys who have taken the time to share their builds.

After I complete installation of my insulation, I will take the trailer on a few trips and learn what else I need to install to fit my needs. Of course, I will refer to your build as a point of departure.

170705 Driver Side Plywood 3.jpg
At long last, I substantially completed installation of the insulation in the trailer and was able to install new plywood walls. Man that took a long time. The middle layer of insulation with all the custom cutting and fitting took a long time.

The cutouts for the window and the wall vent turned out OK. I still need to install a bit more insulation and affix some kind of cover for the cove area where the walls meet the ceiling. In so doing, I will cover the fender washers along the edge of the ceiling.

I still need to affix some kind of cover for the rounded part of the V nose where the wiring will be housed underneath the cover.

170705 Cove Sheet Metal.jpg
Here is a piece of the factory cove covering made out of white sheet metal that was installed all around the ceiling . It really looks nice. However, I am thinking that I will cover the cove area with a smaller piece of trim board because the sheet metal takes up about 5 inches of valuable wall space. A smaller trim board will give me more exposed plywood and the ability to affix things higher up the wall, closer to the ceiling.

Here is the factory cover for the nose area that covers the wires ... made out of white sheet metal. I was going to reinstall this sheet but now think I will affix a 4 inch wide board ... maybe plywood. The wood will give me something to anchor onto when I start affixing things in the nose area. I do not think that the sheet metal would work as well because it is a bit flimsy.

powermate generator.jpg
I just bought this Powermate 2000i generator from Walmart for $488. From my research, I believe it is a private label made by Yamaha.

generator and air conditioner.jpg
I was pleased that the generator not only powered up an old 8,000 btu window air conditioner, but also operated in economode with the air conditioner on high cool and high fan. The plug for the AC unit is too bulky to plug directly into the generator so I had to use an orange extension cord to make the connection. To ground the units, I attached a jumper cable that runs from the ground post on the generator to a metal rod I drove into the earth a few feet away to serve as a ground device.

That's a nice generator. My Champion 2000 powers my 8000 Btu too. Is yours quite? I don't think Yamaha is the manufacturer. Could be or could be a copy.
Just did a quick Google it was an Italian family owned company until Generac bought. In 2016.

Correction: I should have said "clone" rather than "private label"

LOL! I hate it when my phone does that ... From what I can tell by my naked ear, the Powermate sounds as loud as a Honda or Yamaha
