Thanks! I washed and waxed it yesterday too. The paint is really cool, has some subtle metallic flake effect to it.

Well that was tedious. About 10 hours of labor but the insulation of walls and roof is complete. Image

Looks great! Have you made any more progress since insulating? I just purchased a nearly identical 6x12 with a shallow v nose, a little older but I'll be on the same track as you! Although I did take it all apart today and found the previous owner had insulated and wired it up partially for me :)

Thanks! Good luck with your project. Between work and family vacation not much more construction progress to report. But I have finally received my windows and ordered almost every component for the build. Hopefully more time for building soon

Finally a little time to do construction. Got parts galore. Mounted up the Renogy 100W panels today. Got a plan for welding in window framing, building a slider for fridge, and installing battery box and propane mount. ImageImageImageImage

Good progress today with the help of a local metal expert. He built me frames for the windows and fridge sliders. All welded in! Hopefully installing Windows and battery box next weekend. ImageImageImageImage

Nice battery box  I saw these awhile back and lusted over them. I just got my batteries mounted and usable, it was a happy day. :D

Congrats! I'm looking forward to connecting everything soon too. I shopped around a lot for a battery mounting option. I was originally going to put them inside and vent but ultimately decided to keep them outside. For the limited space I have on my v-nose tongue this box fits perfectly, unlike the cheaper plastic options out there. It's expensive, but I couldn't get a local metal fabricator to make me a similar one out of aluminum for cheaper. The box looks very well built and it is very light (until I put the two 6v batteries inside) which is important because my build inherently concentrates weight up front that I will have to ballast aft of the axles.

Yeah, I was a little worried I was getting all the weight on the drivers side (bed,33 gal water tank, shower, storage rack.) Basicly everything was on the left side, so I mounted the batteries outside behind the right wheel.
having them outside also makes maintenance and inspection a breeze.

Windows lived up to the hype of being a complete pain in the ass to install. But after 5 hours I have one side done! ImageImageImageImage

Battery box mounted. Fits perfectly and doesn't interfere with jack. Made some brackets to raise it off the tongue so i didnt have to relocate the existing trailer brake+light wiring boxes. Very happy with the look. Just need to paint the weldsImageImage

That is a beautiful battery box. However, I would be concerned about heat.

Below is a link to “battery university” web page that says:

Heat is a killer of all batteries, …

As a guideline, each 15°F rise in temperature cuts the life of a sealed lead acid battery in half.

This means that a … battery … specified to last for 10 years at 77°F would only live

5 years if continuously exposed to 92°F and

30 months if kept at a constant desert temperature of 106°F.
