Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

Wondering what the purpose of carpet on the walls is? Is it for added insulation fro noise, or for aesthetic purposes? I am getting ready to paint the walls, but figured I would ask about carpet first.

I just like the look of carpet and was cheaper that the 40.00 a sheet paneling I used on the ceiling, I got lucky and found a roll on sale at lowes but would have paid the price for the carpet

Those who have put carpet on the walls, do you carpet walls then install cabinets or install cabinets then trim the carpet around them?

Not to mention cleaning off the bug guts when you smash that really annoying very full mosquito that just got you.

I pluck the bugs out of the air with chopsticks if they get bad,but maybe thats just me?

I like Carpet as it really gives a finished and uniform look,helps insulate noise and was cheap compared to panels too.
Mine is simply screwed to the original plywood walls around the top in one continuous piece and in a few spots along the bottom to make it all tight.
I then attached thngs through the carpet and to the plywood but I also have very little attached this way at all as I prefer to keep the inside as uncluttered as possible and attach most things to E-Track mounted over the carpet for easy removal and reconfiguration.

I rarely need to vacuum there as I rarely walk there too!
Again,maybe just me?

Hmmmmm.... padded walls...... Does the door only lock from the outside, too?

The reason I mentioned the vacuuming is I live in a dusty area (desert SW N.M.), and that dust will
find it's way into anything. I also have a maximum fur dispersal unit named Rascal (Border Collie).
Tough enough to keep just the floor in my 5th wheel (home), clean, would hate to have to do the
walls and perhaps the ceiling.

My plan is to use some hull liner on the walls and foam backed headliner for the ceiling. I'm working on a small 5x12x5 CT. Going to beta test mine on a road trip to be sure everything is where I want it before I start covering things.

Scamp Trailers use a Marine Headliner material that owners call "Rat Fur" usually and it is very nice and makes a cozy interior to me.
I loved mine and they also back it with Reflectix insulation for a little R value inside the molded fiberglass shell.
They sell the Rat Fur too in the online Scamp parts store.

Doesn't/didn't Little Guy used carpeted walls? Not deep pile stuff, of course.

Build it the way you want it and ignore the critics and jokers. There is a builder on here that made over 150 teardrops which he sold and used carpet on many of them. On my current build I used a combination of carpet and auto upholstery fabric. It is very quiet and comfortable. I wish you all the best in your build.

Do you think it might help prevent wall condensation on uninsulated 3/4" plywood walls in a tear? The Habitat Re-Store sells those glue on squares by the metric ton. Just a thought.
