6x12 build

Converting Cargo Trailers into TTTs

Re: 6x12 build

I just found this while looking at a boat to build for the winter.
If I had found it before doing my CC, I might have built it in a 6x12 version.

Well I love the concept, but anything "Euro" just makes me laugh. It weighs 300 kilos, (660lbs) and has a payload of
100 kilos. So that's like a "litre" of milk and 500g of bread? If your tow vehicle is capable. My work boots are like 10 kilos...
But hey, it's got a 60 inch (not metric?) projection screen! You could have the seven dwarfs come over for a 'short film', the projector will have to ride in Snowhite's car.

Sigh, always a comdedian around....
Only concept I liked was the upper lifting assembly. Cutting down wind resistance yet have standing room height.

I'll be here all week folks. Stick around for the Midnight show....

But seriously, I'm hip to the pop- up concept, and can envision modifying a cargo trailer to do just that. In my case it could only collapse to the height of the Harley, about 4ft-ish, but that would make a huge difference since my tow vehicle is a GMC 3/4 ton van. Also, this could be an opportunity to add some vertical interior height. I'm not ready to jump in
Whole Hog just yet, but the wheels are turning...

Anyone know of "popup kits" for a DIY body build on a custom frame?

Not the whole roof, just the pillars and lift mechanism?

Or Popular Mechanic type HowTo cookbook links?

Never seen such, but if I was going to do one i would look more in-depth at that site to see how they did it. His boats arent bad. My stumbling block before was you end up with dutch doors. Like a popup camper on a pu. But for a rear kitchen application like i have, thats not a bad thing.

I dont see doing it with a CC, best to start from a prebuilt frame like a utility trailer.
But at my age, I dont plan on building a 3rd trailer.
Rather build a SOF boat.

Just do a search on youtube for "diy popup campers" and you'll find lots. Pretty amazing how ingenious people can be.

Thanks much, but I was hoping for recommendations from trusted sources here, on a quality purpose-built kit

I also find videos don't suit my learning style, much prefer the written word.

Weather cooperated today to start finalizing the kitchen area.
An upper box on each cargo door. Drivers side holds the stove. Passenger side holds 2 countertops and shower floor.

Added a countertop to the passenger side simply for why not. Cannot use it except open past 45 degrees because of ice chest drawer. But will still be handy.
The driver door holds the stove, top of stove at counter top height for ease of cooking.
Need to drill a 1” hole in bottom C channel at rear for the gasline to go thru to a quick coupling.

Nice! What a great kitchen. You'll have show us some of the culinary creations that come from there.
Bon Appetit.

I agree with McDave. That is a real nice galley. Very nice work!
