Postby Hit-n-Miss » Fri Aug 25, 2017 4:42 pm

Anyone have a sourest for weather tight lockable access doors? Going to do a thru wall ac. Thinking of having something like this made.

. Or may just use door/hatch and slide ac out. Anyone got a source? Varying sizes? Thanks.

I think just fixed install? I can't see what good the empty box inside does once unit slid outside, still takes up space.

Roof mounted much better but yes pricey.

. The idea in my picture it would not slide out and it would have clearance around it externally to draw air. I figured I would build a closet below and around it floor to ceiling.

Hey Hit-n-miss,
Try these guys.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dometic-RV-Refr ... SwyQtViHbf
I got a refrig access door from them. The first one was damaged when it arrived, but they shipped a new one that day. Great service.

McDave

PS I still have the damaged door if anyone is interested. Mostly the aluminium frame that's damaged.

. Thanks mc Dave. Looks like it would work even if door shut.

Hey Hit-n-Miss,
Yes, I believe it worked and latched. This is a vented access door, so not really weather tight. Maybe weather resistant?
The biggest issue I had with the damage was that its the aluminium frame that needs to seal to the wall where you cut the hole for the A/C. If you took your time and straightened the frame, and built a 1" x? frame to screw to with some isobutyl tape should be fine. Hole size is 14" x 22" I believe. Let me know ..

Why not go through the floor?
Mine is working as it should be, and I never have to worry about the rain.
