Barn doors......

Postby fourbtgait » Sun Aug 27, 2017 7:52 pm

About to open up the rear barn doors to add blocking and insulation.
Any tips?
It looks like you need to remove from trailer, remove the edge trim?

As a side note, those that have rear kitchens, did you vent them hi/lo to move heat?
Or?

I didn't need to remove my doors; I have an Aluma brand. I just pried the aluminum panels off the inside surface of each door. I then insulated the door and screwed 1/2" treated plywood back on. I did cut the plywood slightly oversized so it actually rests on the door sill when they are closed. That insures there is little to no weight on the hinges when their closed. It has been working for almost 30,000 miles.

Mine appear to have a channel on all 4 sides. To take the inner ply skin off I have to unbolt the hinges and latch. Then screws through the edge metal into the ply.
I do not see an apparent seam

Have you tried contacting the manufacturer, give them the VIN number and ask for a structural drawing of the doors.
