I like mine and have run it non stop, I had to stop making ice and saving it because I have no more room in my freezer.
I think it's worth using so I don't have to find and pay for ice at home or camping.

Just wanted to say that I used the Igloo/RCA for 3 continous days during Biketoberfest. It worked flawlessly. Very happy with it so far. I like having ice for my drinks.

We have a perfectly good freezer, but I'm pretty sensitive to tastes, so I don't like the ice from there. My wife bought me a standalone icemaker for my birthday a year and a half ago, and I love the danged thing.
I practice "tea management" in a 44 oz cup, adding to it as needed (ice or tea, depending), and the ice maker more than meets my needs.
If my wife hits the button when she gets up to make her coffee, by the time I rise, about half an hour later, there's enough to ice down my current cup for the day ahead.

I can't remember the brand, off the top of my head, but I believe she got it at Sam's. However, it looks nearly identical to the RCA model posted above, though it's black and stainless instead of white.

Probably all are made by the same Mfg.. The brand names like Igloo and RCA are just licensed.

I use my fridge freezer when solo, but when the Mrs. goes with me the freezer is ussually full of her smoothie stuff and we use more ice. I may take it anyhow when I go solo since it is so quick and efficent. Then I can keep more Pizza in the freezer! :-)
