Is a v nose trailer usually measured from the tip of the V to the rear for overall length?
So a 7x16 is 16’ from the tip of the v to the rear?

Depends on the manufacturer. Two examples - Legend calculates it so a 7x16 box with 3' v-nose is a 7x19. R&R does not count it. These are just two I have looked at recently. Make sure and double-check the specs!

Measure or ask. Mine is a 6x12 not including the shallow v nose

My 7x16 NEO v-nose is 16' on the box. The v-nose adds about 2' on top of that. With the tongue, total length is 20' from hitch to rear.

My Lark was stated as 18'*7' plus 2ft V nose. So in this case, it is in addition.

My Haulmark 6X12 does not include the V, so its really about a 6X14, or something.

I've mentioned that there isn't any set standard for any measurements. Including the 6" raised roof. ___+6" still gives you 6" added. Make sure your getting exact measurements.

My 7X16 doesn't include the V-nose. Its a 16ft box plus 2ft V-nose.

Shopping for a trailer can get a bit stressfull. Frame size, length, cargo or barn doors, smooth sides, aluminum or galvanized roof, ceiling, walls etc 16 or 24 oc.

Take your time deciding, you'll understand more once you design your layout. Walk around in a few cargo trailers if you have a dealer close by just to get some ideas of how things will affect your decisions.
Here's an example. I have a stocking dealer close by. I thought a 6"3" ceiling would be tall enough. After walking thru a couple of trailers I knew I needed at least 6 more inches of height. At the same time I was able to look at the differences between three different builders/manufacturers, and what each considered a "standard item vs optional". It also allowed be to get a sales sheet on each builder with a list of some of the more common "optional upgrades".

I added 6" in height, spare tire, extended tongue, window, upsized entrance door, spare tire mount, upgraded rear ramp, etc. I was able to see a similar equipped unit on the dealers lot..

I do not believe any manufacturers include the V nose into the measurement. It's usually just the Square of the box. Depending on manufacturer the V can be 2-4 feet

Legend does, but is the only one I've come across after checking quite a few. Not sure why they want to be different. Its misleading to include that v-nose length in their model numbers.

And Beck's(MI dealer) does for theirs, which includes Legend. When I was looking, some other dealers gave overall legnth, too. But may have been competing with Beck's measurements.
