i've bought windows on two different occasions and all i've recieved is the window itself and the inner trim ring, no screws of any kind. the walls were too thin on my first build so i didn't use the trim ring, i drilled and screwed through the exterior flange. i'm just getting ready to instal windows in my new build so i will be using the trim rings and self tapping screws from the inside...

All windows are received and the reverse LED light also

Ordered steel for the window frames today. Is it recommended to box the whole window size in or just the top and bottom?

You need to support all sides that would be squeezed
by your trim ring screws. Otherwise you will leave
creases that leak............

Copy that. I’ll run horizontal braces to support the studs I cut. Than weld in vertical studs to hold the window. Thank yo u

Picked up my can of spray adhesive for the carpet once the walls are re sheeted.

I don’t have a welder but have lots of good friends who do, fortunately my buddy @arkstrkr did a fantastic job welding up my window frames. We made the horizontal braces long so we can trim to fit. The studs on my trailer are not exactly the same spacing. Welded them up at his shop and test fit windows there. Next week after my trip to Portland I’ll get them welded in.

Tonight I got started with the window install.

First with a Bosch laser level I marked from the inside of my trailer where I wanted the windows
I found my center line, my widths and poked a hole to the outside of the trailer for further cutting

Disregard the measurements, they are widths for insulation Is all



After I turned attention to outside with some masking tape I covered my working area for two reasons. A place to put a pencil mark and second to not scratch my trailer walls while cutting and measuring


I traced my window frame with the help of the wife, I than used the dewalt vibe saw to cut out my aluminum panels along the lines.

If you have never used one of these you should, They are amazing and super helpful. I had never used one until the cabinet shop, we use them daily and every guy we have hired since has purchased his own for personal use


I then cut out the studs to check my window frame fit. Again I used my vibe saw. This metal isn’t exactly thin stuff but the all metal blade goes through it.

Window frames installed today


Now I need some advise on what to use for window seal? Silicone, buytal tape? Buytal caulk? The rubber seal that came with the window? Suggestions folks?
