That is so tragic. I feel so bad for the families involved.

I don't trust the propane heaters and will not go to bed with them on. Even with a CO2 detector and so called "proper ventilation". . I will heat up the CTC just prior to going to bed and then when I wake up. If I found myself in a situation where I needed heat all night, I would probably use my 1500W Ceramic heater and just run the generator. If it was a regular need (and is not in Florida) I would install an
propane furnace where the flame and etc. is all vented outside. I actually have one from the donor camper I never installed,

Tragic,...please be safe out there, vent propane externally, and please use CO, O2 & Explosive gas detectors.

You will wake up when too cold.

Warm up the place you are sleeping, shut off the propane before going to sleeping, or have a timer circuit. Wake up in the night cold? Run propane for 30 minutes and back to sleep.

Might not be known here, but water vapor is a by product of propane combustion. I deal with it on cold tools in the garage all the time.
