Round or flat roof?

Postby BCsteve » Sat Jan 20, 2018 11:13 am

Hey guys,

Lots of great info here. I’m starting to look for a 6x12 to convert. The round roofs seems to be like they would be more resistant to leaking, how are the flat ones? Should I be avoiding flat roof trailers in my search?
I already have a 7x16 with a round roof that I use to haul stuff around that hasn’t leaked a single drop in 6 years so I’m kinda leaning that way.

Thanks!

I think some may think a flat roof might have low spots on the edges of the roof where water can collect vs a rounded roof; however, I think water can collect on the flat part of a round roof too. JMHO

Last summer, when I was cleaning my skylights I noticed quite a few of these in the caulking on my Neo NAVR's roof:

I ordered some Eternabond tape from Amazon, scraped and cleaned all the "eruptions" and stuck down the Eternabond tape:

Rainy season is upon us now, but no leaks.

Hope this helps.

+1 on the above....I would be more concerned with the general construction of the trailer instead.

I'm with Tim. Quality all around is probably more important than style.
