Karebru, Howdy;

My eye fixated on the corner sink and vanity, you Sir do beautiful work.
Then you mentioned putting something like Diamond-plate behind it
for a back splash ... :frightened: that small a space and
I dunno ... hard to improve on what ya got.

1978... I had the money for the down payment on a van to customize, and I spent it on an engagement ring.
Best move I've ever made... and now I'm finally getting the custom build bug out of my system with a CT instead of a van. 8)
Thanks as always, for the compliments and continuing motivation, McDave.
My wife pretty much let me have free reign with the décor, but she has added some nice touches of her own. Keeps it from getting too "gritty".

I'm sometime surprised by what mine agrees to. We rarely shoot down each others ideas. You should see our house... "Eclectic" doesn't do enough to describe it.

Thanks Hank.
I have to put something there to protect the wood.
Surprisingly, as I said, she likes the diamond plate idea... Said it keeps with the cargo trailer theme.
I'm picturing our camper having the overall look of a workshop inside a barn, with a little bit of steampunk thrown in.
There will be a horseshoe or two hanging on the wall. A friend [and my employer] redoing a horse trailer/sleeper is what started me on this whole thing.
I'll hold a piece of DP up there and look at it before I decide to attach it.

Karebru, Howdy;

Hey, it's your build, you like it, more importantly, Her likes it ... far be it from me
to try to talk ya out of it. Most of what I mention is just brain bleed, stuff my gray
cells with the help of some synaptic routed voltage, generate into what most folks
refer to as my crazy thoughts and ideas. Truly sorry I mentioned it.

No problem. No sorry.
All thoughts and opinions expressed in a civil manner are appreciated and considered.
My camper is turning out much better than it would have without them.
Thanks to all.

Yikes ! It's been over a month since I updated! :o
I hope everyone had a safe and happy Thanksgiving.

I tore a hamstring 5 minutes into working in the yard... Not recommended.
Was laid up for about ten days, then still had to finish the darn yard work.

But now I'm back on the trailer.
The base cabinets are all built and fitted. I'm taking the long weekend to drag them back out and put a finish on them.
Once they're permanently back in place, I'll post pictures.
No door and drawers yet. They'll come later.

I'm pretty set on laminate countertops. We've picked a color but haven't ordered material yet.
Practical, and lightweight, I guess... Unless I come up with another idea.
Still haven't done the diamond plate vanity backsplash.

Hey, Hank.
You talked me out of the diamond plate backsplash.
I'm not closed minded. It just takes me a while to come around sometimes.
Besides, I've got another idea brewing...

Got a mirror and hung my tractor up...

Managed to get what I wanted to get done this weeked.
I am back on track. :)

Karebru, Howdy;

Wasn't trying to talk ya outta the idea, just passin' along an observation ...

Looks like you've shifted from the "somewhat steam punk" to more of a
Swedish/IKEAish theme. Like all that Blonde wood in there, truly creates
an open, airy feeling to the place. Not so bright and sharp/pointy...

A little bit every weekend...
We're slammed busy at work, but there's talk about shutting down for two weeks over the holidays.
Two weeks of trailer time.

My raw countertops are made and fit... Laminate ordered.
They'll have to come back out for that.
And the upper cabinets are built... The boxes, anyhow. It kinda divides the space into kitchen and sleeping areas.
I think I'll just put an open shelf over each window... Somewhere to mount my task lighting.

Image

I finally covered up that ugly, white AC box.

Image

There will be a frame with a seal surrounding the AC, and a false drawer front to hide the cord.

Image

I'm still trying for the "barn" look with the all the squares posts. They're hollow to keep the weight down.
The gaps at the ceiling are for the 1x4 "beams that will cover the ceiling panel joints.

Image

The space behind that post needs something hanging in it.

In the back of my mind, I've always been unhappy with the way my side door latched. Today the sun was hitting it and I could see light coming in around it.
Deciding something needed to be done, I started playing with it and realized that the factory installed the strike plate backwards, or upside down, whatever.
A couple new screw holes and problem solved.

I've heard of, but am not familiar with Ikea.
The cabinet doors will change the look of the plain looking boxes... Inset panels with diagonal "Barn door" cross bars.
Maybe a few more metal signs... A horse shoe, or two. ;)
