flboy & Joel.brian, Howdy;

Y'all enjoy that rain, out here we've only had about 0.62" since about Thanksgiving,
give or take a day or 2 either side. On the Plus side it's 92*F with 23% humidity as
I type. We've got a 'threat' of rain, heard that a few times...

Stay safe out there in the damp & soggy.

hank

Yeah I’m always grateful for rain. Started working on my a/c setup. I’ve only completed the shelf, none of the venting is done. This is just pieced together but it’s a glimpse of what it will look like down the road. ImageImage

A/C is completed and working perfectly!

Basically, the hot air is being exhausted out with three 4 inch vents. Two on the side wall and one on the roof. Then I am using a 4 inch in-line duct fan drawing air from underneath the trailer and pushing it into the sealed exhaust cavity to force the hot air out of the three vents.

For the intake, I have two four-inch side wall vents and I am also pumping in air with an in-line duct fan but I don’t actually think I needed the fan.

It got the trailer down to 68° within an hour and seemed to be exhausting the hot air perfectly!

Looking great joel … you have gotten a lot done!

Could you please post a link to where you got those vents? I am wanting to further investigate the potential for water intrusion.

Also, your trailer cooled down pretty fast …. 68 degrees in one hour … very impressive results. I see that it is a 5k btu unit.

How hot was it outside when you achieved 68 degrees in one hour?

Were you in the shade?

Did you notice if there was a large temperature difference between the temps at the floor vs. temps at the ceiling?

Sorry to pepper you with so many questions but you have given me a new outlook on how to install an AC unit in my trailer.

Thank you for all the photos!

Here’s the link to those vents. I’ve added the roof vent link too.

“Also, your trailer cooled down pretty fast …. 68 degrees in one hour … very impressive results. I see that it is a 5k btu unit.

It was dusk and probably 80 degrees out with no sun. I don’t anticipate running the AC unit much ever during the day because it will most likely only be used for sleeping or during a thunderstorm. I doubt it will be able to keep it very cool if the hot sun is beating down on it. I only have 1 inch of insulation in the ceiling. I got a cheapo $120 a/c unit anyway, I’m not expecting the arctic up in here.

“Did you notice if there was a large temperature difference between the temps at the floor vs. temps at the ceiling?”

I didn’t notice that at all but I think my trailer would be less likely because the AC unit is mounted at the ceiling and it effectively blows the cool air all the way across the trailer when on high cool. Again, it was dark out though so no sun was beating down on the roof.

I don’t mind the questions at all!

I added a little trim work and cleaned up a bit. Added the kitchen backsplash wall with power outlet too. ImageImage

Joel,
Likin the build so far! The wood everywhere gives it a cozy cabin feel!

Really cool vents. Definitely would make me wonder what's going on in there. Plus forced air induction when travelling.
Nice work Joel.

I made some adjustments to the a/c cabinet by adding a drain pan and drain and it works phenomenal now. I wouldn’t do it any different. Now onto the shower!!

Joel,
Your vinyl flooring looks great. Did you have to do any prep work or lay any underlayment before you "Peel and Stuck" the panels? Did you have to apply any extra glue to the raw wood floor before laying it down? I have been debating on either a floating wood panel floor or the Peel and Stick Vinyl route like you chose. If the vinyl would stay attached and not pop up or come up, I would sure like to go that route. It would make things a lot easier being able to build over it.

You must prime the floor with a latex floor primer first. The primer creates a surface to which the adhesive clings, especially when the subfloor is porous plywood. They sell it on the same isle as the peel n stick vinyl in HD. It was super easy to install and I would definitely go this route again if I did it over.
