AC Exhaust Vent

Anyone that has installed a window AC in their CTC care to share where they got the external shutter type vent ? Is it called something else?

This is another type you might look at. You may have to notch the frame, but the door itself appears external to the wall. It may all just mount on the surface, I cannot tell from the pic.

Other Air intake vents for the home are similar. If I used one like this, I would take some 1/2 aluminum angle stock and created a drip edge on the top side and forward.

In any case, also make your AC shelf water resistand so if anything does get in at highway speeds, no harm.

I am thinking that if I put it in the I wouldn't have to cut any cross members. This is a picture of the nose from when I putting insulation in. I am pretty sure that several of those vents would fir without needing to remove any cross members. I have to to frame out and build the front anyway. Shouldn't be hard to build a support piece out of wood. I don't weld (yet).

If this is going low down and inside the Air envelope of the TV, you could just mount this to the outside (it is a flush mount) and then cut whatever piece you want out behind it and divide up intake and exhaust. Many ways for that to work. Just put a drip edge on top made out of 1/2 aluminum angle stock.

You could really put it anywhere and then take some vinyl cloth and make a cover to put over it with Velcro all the way around to hold it when traveling so water is not forced in by wind. Simply pull the cover off when ready to use the AC. I think this will accomplish what you want and can get the grille at Home Depot for $32.00. In fact.. the cover will keep the bees from doing their thing like they do here in Florida.

Just throwing out some ideas... but I actually like this one. It would work and look good with a nice cover to put on for travel. You could paint it to match your trailer if not already white.

This is what I mean by a drip edge. When raining hard, water sometime flows off the roof and the surface tension of the vents allows water to run along the input and then wind will blow it in. It was not a lot of water, but enough to motivate me to solve the problem. The drip edge diverts it around or it just misses the face altogether. I noticed some water coming in during hard rains ( opened vent to check) and this fixed it.

Yea, the idea is really growing on me. I am thinking internal mount like I have seen on other trailers with a vent like that on the outside. How much space around the AC should there be? How does the separation of incoming/outgoing air work?
