Bed lift

Postby Iconfabul8 » Thu Aug 09, 2018 3:17 pm

There is always a lot of interest around here in bed lifts. For some time now, I have been purporting the concept of a drawworks under the bed. My Sketch
Until now, I haven't seen it implemented. I hope ya'll find the links below helpful and enlightening.

As I'm sure my post triggered you to make this one, my last reply might be of some help to people. (Instructions directly from Lippert on how to request a quote)

This is what I'd like to try if doing all over again. Looks simple and cables are hidden.

Funny,

I'm just starting my build. Going to start a thread soon. I have the same setup the ready to install for lifting my bed.

Will post pics and follow up on how it works when I get it done.

Anyone have any idea where to source the hardware for the bed lift shown in the Transit van. I have no problem with the pulleys, but the bar that wraps the cables and that has the crankshaft is where I am stuck.

A few trips with my wife and it is apparent I need the bed at the lowest point for sleeping and then be able to crank up as needed.

Don,
On a Facebook post which I can no longer find. And of course I've forgotten their name. There is a 12 volt motor on a track. They used 2 , 6' 150lbs units, at center of bed. Garage door track on each corner. Looked good and slim profile.

Nope not that. It's a motor on a track. Very neat and probably what my "designer" had in mind before he putzed out on me.
No cables no pulleys!

Don,
Look forward to your bed lift project. Do you think you'll invert the garage lift with the motor, crank and pulleys under the bed?
Take care,
Tom

That is what I have in mind ( mount upside down with hardware under bed).

I will have to take my existing bed out and start from scratch. I may just get some 1 in square steel stock and tack it altogether and get someone who knows how to weld to make it pretty.

Will add plywood to top and trim with wood.

The $500 for the Amazon hardware seems a bit steep for what it is. I really would just like the gearbox and shaft. Since I am going this route, I may fab something similar with garage door hardware.

Will be a project. Will share as I go. Will a month or so before I start. I am helping someone else with a project before I start.

Padilen... I can see that now. Wow. That is clean. I could keep the bed as is and with existing trolleys! Going to explore that so more before I start over. Thanks.
