Wow! Lots of great and creative ideas coming out here. A lot more than one way to skin a cat.

Storage underneath. You could add a 2nd battery to drive a fan that is in a sliding window, add a fantastic fan, or computer fans, etc. Shore power lets you run a heading pad, blanket, or you can look at a Mr. Buddy, or Lil Buddy, whatever they are called :0

Just because you want to move from tent camping to something more comfortable doesn't mean you need to make a full jump to a camper. Lots of space in between to fit the rig you have.

I have thought about that but I would really like to be able to stand up inside. I don’t mind primitive camping when I’m backpacking, or when it’s the only option, but if I’m paying for a lakeside campsite with water and electricity I would like to be able to use it to full advantage.

I think the homemade truck camper will be my first stab at the problem, and if that doesn’t satisfy me then I will try the flatbed or cargo trailer route.

Thanks to all for the really good suggestions and ideas.

You might consider these pickup truck campers. Pop up top and insulated sidewalls give you stand up room.
