Window question?

Postby BCsteve » Sat Feb 02, 2019 8:24 pm

Got a windows question for the experts. Let’s see if I can describe this properly. The interior ring on my windows has a lip that fits just right on 3/8” plywood interior with the ring screws tightened up al the way. I’m thinking of adding paneling inside over the plywood. Is there enough flex on the ring to fit over the paneling and still tighten the screws all the way in or would I have to snug the screws leaving a small gap between the ring and the window. What’s the right way of doing this!?

Got any pictures?

When I ordered my windows from SunView Industries in Summerland, I had to specify the width of the wall thickness. Windows arrived and fit to that wall thickness perfectly.

The fact that I forgot to include 1 item's dimension meant that I had to "frame" the windows with some MDF. Take a look at my build pictures (link below) to see what I did.

Hope this helps.

i didn't use the interior ring, instead i screwed it through the window frame from the outside into the plywood backer board. i didn't feel that screwing it from the inside would be secure enough.

I installed our 3 windows, as per mfr's instructions, in early 2015 and have bounced along with us for over 30,000 miles of touring. No leaks either.

I think ill have to cut my paneling so it sits flush around, against the window ring instead of underneath the ring.
