That is a nice looking trailer!! I can't wait to see what you do with all that space. Do you have a tentative layout plan yet?

Keep those pictures coming, and have fun with it. 8)

Wow, that's a lot of trailer. You should be able to build that one just the way you like. Nice looking exterior as well. Better hurry though, summers are way too short up here. Good Luck and have fun!

Darin:
The tanks are from D&M PLASTICS INC. in Lacombe, Alberta; Office: 403-782-4606; [email protected].
Since my floor joists are on 16" centres, and I am trying to keep the tanks high up against the floor, I was limited in tank size. Thankfully it's working out for me.

Kirkupnorth:
I do have a layout but it is changing a bit. I will try to update it and post.

No kidding summers are short. Sad thing is I am retired but finishing up some work-related stuff that's keeping me busy into June. It's all volunteer. I will show developments on the trailer as they happen.

Be well,
Richard

Yesterday I installed my two solar panels. I had order two 345w. They were out of stock but they had 285w. They fit and installed nicely. I still have to run extra solar cables down into the solar system cabinet.

Looking forward to watching this build. Thanks for sharing your progress.

I do have a stupid question... I am in the contemplating a build, are the solar panels mounted permanently or do they get removed before travel?
Thanks
Peter

Hi Peter
They are mounted permanently. I bought aluminum brackets that attach to the panels. Six per panel (because they are fairly big). I drilled holes through the roof, put lots of Dicor in place, and then bolted the brackets down. That Dicor is amazing stuff.

My plan is to keep the trailer under a roof for the winter. That should protect the panels as well.

Hi Everyone
I have to apologize for not posting for a while. I have been so caught up in working on my conversion that I let other things slide. As it stands, there is a lot I still have to do. But my solar system and plumbing system works great. The trailer is also insulated: 1" Polyisocyanurate on walls and 1 1/2" on ceiling.
The solar system is powering a 9 cubic foot fridge along with lights and occasional hair dryer by my wife. The batteries drop to about 90% during the night but are back up to 100% by midmorning. The amazing thing is this works even when it is overcast. I am thrilled. I can use electricity without worrying about the batteries going low. I also monitor them with a Victron monitor and the Morningstar monitor. Also the inverter gives me readings on the batteries. I have included a few photos. I plan to send more during the week.
Richard
