Murphy Bed Using Boat Seat Swivels

Postby jwh92020 » Thu Jul 11, 2019 2:14 pm

Have any of you built a Murphy/Fold Down bed using boat seat swivels? If so, could you please post some pics and drawings if available? I'm starting a new build next week and the guy wants a Murphy Bed. Thank you.

will be doing the same thing in a Sprinter van soon. I am planning on using a set of square turntable bearings. They are rated for 400 pounds. I am going with the 3" size.

Philip - Thanks for the link. Your build looks pretty cool. I'm starting mine Tues or Weds depending on how hot & humid it gets here in OKC.

OKC in July is always hot and humid. I grew up south of Tulsa.

My bed is going to fold in half the long way. My freightshaker doesn't have enough width for a full length mattress. I plan on using a air mattress. Air it down. Fold it in half on the fixed side of the bed. Throw a strap on it to stop it from sliding down. Then fold the bed up. Most likey will just use a curtain. Making a set of 74" doors of any type in a narrow van isn't worth the pain of the design work.

The link in my sig went to a new owner yesterday. Its down in your region now.
