Converting Cargo Trailers into TTTs

New member and question

Postby ezrydr99 » Thu Jul 25, 2019 7:59 pm

Hi
I just bought a used 6x14 H&H with torsion axle and ramp door. It will be used a sleeping area and storage for bike while traveling. Getting too old to ride everywhere we have not been yet. We plan to stay 3-4 days in spot ride the bike and move on.

My plans are to add a roof top a/c, and 2 windows. Hope to add cabinets in v-nose.
Add a bed using e-track.
We will have a portable grill and 12v refrigerator. And use campgrounds with shower facilities

Also thinking of adding a ramp room like pic below. Anyone know the brand and how hard to setup?

I enjoy reading all the build stories, if only 10 years younger I would build a full cargo conversion.

Welcome!

Sorry I cannot help you with the make and model. I do notice that, based on the height of the trailer, you wouldn't be able to stand up in much of that room.

Perhaps there are other makes and models that offer higher roof lines.

I'm sure there are a few of us would like to know where to get something like that too!

Hope someone else has more info.

Talk to a awning and tent upholstery shop. They should be able to make something like that. Or a boat rigging shop. If your close to Indiana I bet Sailrite could do it.

Looks like its custom. I like the idea. I'd make the end frame taller. I'd also add support poles from the trailer to the frame at the end of the ramp to give the top of the tent roof better support. In my neck of the woods the top of the tent as shown would fill up with water and be leaking in no time.

It would be easy to build or have someone build a simple take apart frame, similar to a wall tent. You can buy wall tent fittings and cut your own pipe to fit. [urlhttps://www.walltentshop.com/collections/wall-tent-angle-kits][/url]]

Saw a guy this weekend at camp that did something similar on a utility trailer.
