Well i decided to take a wack at the faux granite counter top thing! 3/4" MDF for the tops, coated with Kilz oil based primer, then 4 shades or acrylic grey & black paints.
Need to seal with poly but overall happy with results, i'm no artist lol!

Wow! That looks great. The clear coat will really seal the deal.
Nice job Chief.

Lokes great! I did a similar faux granite on my dinette. Turned out nice. Did you use natural sponges to do it?

I actually used crumpled up pieces of plastic wrap, worked well. I didn't even sand down the surfaces after painting and sealing, so its kinda got an orange-peal surface but I'm ok with it, funtionality is fine.

You can get a plastic garbage bag and tie a knot in it with air inside. Not full but enough to hold a form. That works well also

Well just in time for warm weather, i purchased a portable AC unit. Installing a louvered vent outlet for the exhaust duct. 10,000 btu's is probably overkill for a 7x17 CT but i figure if i leave it off when unoccupied it will cool down pretty quick on a hot day. It also has de-humidifier function for those cool damp days. I really didn't want to hack any frame studs to install a cheaper window unit, i'll leave that for my windows install at a later date. Also installed a Fantastic vent fan in place of the OEM roof vent, which got destroyed by falling storm debris!

I really hope that works better for you than the one I had in my first CTC did. The one hose type in particular do not typically work well at all for real hot weather in this application because they are pushing air outside and pulling air from the room. That being the case, they will constantly be pulling in air from outside. During the hot part of the day, they push out cold air, but never cool the room. The 2 hose type work better because they draw air from outside and discharge it at the same rate in a closed loop from outside. Plenty to read up on in these threads if you do a search. I hope your outcome is better... but just wanted to tell you so you are not surprised.

Don,

no question a window unit would be better more efficient option, but i'm mainly concerned with comfort at night when sleeping, so if i can keep inside RH under 60% and temperature mid 70's i"m good with that, we'll see! I lived in Tampa 25 years so i consider myself a humidity expert, lol! That's why i'm here in NC now. I swear summers here are hotter then FL but slightly less humid. Thats when i head for the mountains, lol! Hope to make plenty of fall/winter trips to FL though, half my family and daughter still live there! I do ride my motorcycle year round still, love the cold weather!

If you just want to be cool at night.. it will work for that. Mine did keep it cool at night... due to the outside temp dropping and lack of sunlight on trailer skin. It never did really dry it out in the CTC however, as it was pulling in humid outside air at the rate it discharges air outside... but the moving cool air was nice for sleeping.

I did modify my unit to make a 2 hose system where is could draw condenser cooling air from outside, and it did help a lot... it was just not a 1 to 1 ratio. I used a cake pan the same size as the intake on the rear of the unit and made a foam gasket and cut a 4 inch hole in it and attached a dryer hose and put another hole in the floor. I used 2 bungee cords to hold the cake pan on snugly.

Best of luck. Enjoy camping season!

Well come on up here Chief. It's not cold all year round but there are 8 months that will make your stipples nick out. I like the cold air myself and the bike loves it. This was taken in July on the Beartooth Pass.
