6 X 10 (V-nose) build

Im just about where you are on the build.

Picked up some 1/8" white hardboard and some lattace for the seams.
Would have went with some luan but didn't want to paint.
The white ceiling should break up all the grey.

Also picked up some teal paint for the cabinets.
Always wanted to do that color on the teardrop but didn't happen.

Hi. I used Luan plywood for my celing. Number 1 tip, paint it or put whatever finish on it before you install and only touch up after. I hate painting over my head.

Also, 1×2 furring strips into ceiling joists 16 inches on center will allow for double insulation and then you can screw luan into the furring strips.

Keep in mind that whatever you put in for cabinetry or walls, also acts as ceiling support assuming it butts up to the ceiling.... so you do not have to go overboard on screws. Just make sure it is snug so no sagging.

Just one way to do it.. but double insulation in ceiling is good and relatively cheap to do at this stage.

Here's my weekends progress.
Yesterday
Barrowed the glue pot from work and carpeted the walls.
Mounted the front wall cabinet with extra bracing behind.

Today started on the ceiling.
Since the V-nose dives down , there needed to be something somewhat flexible.
Had some plastic shower board I had laying around and tucked that under the hardboard. Pic 2

Still need to put up some corner trim to help hold up the sides and
flat trim where the seams are.

Looks good, I will be putting some 3/4x 2 inch alder on my ceiling/crown molding area. With the size of your trailer in thought I might actually have some painted white poplar at the shop we could work a thing out for maybe

Sorry I didn't PM ya sooner. Was out cleaning up tools and materials.

I guess we had another quake around 7ish.
Was in the trailer and didn't feel it. (thought it was the normal trailer moving around while I work inside ) but I heard the house settle.
Google said it was a 4.0 out of magna .

Ceiling done.
And started painting the doors. Another item I had laying around.
Matches up with the carpet.

Here's where the fun stars. Building the bed, cabinets, sink, etc. Stay tuned.

I may change out that corner trim . There's a few gaps I don't like.

Right now im building the frame for the bed and the decision to go full or queen will be made here soon.

Found some 1-5/8" trim that I liked. Plus I can get the brad nails lower, to avoid the wire's.

Bed frame is in. Have room for a pretty big slide out drawer . Decided to lay down the spare, should be quick and easy to get to.

Was able to get the bed frame up into the V-nose an 1-1/2". That's why I built the front like that. To chop one side down a bit.
Also gained an inch at the rear.

Tried to order/pick up the mattress but IKEA is fully shut down.

Dosent look like much. Last mock up.
Used some 2x4's to set on for proper height.

Knocked the back wall of the cabinet out. Moved it out to 17" to make it easier to pull the tanks out. Plus room for expansion when filled.

Was supposed to work on the trailer today but ended up sewing up masks for family.
Elastic is getting hard to find, so I used stretchy hair ties.

I can relate. I am more of an introvert, so the isolation isn't bothering me much. My wife is more of an extrovert... so much harder for her.

Me too. This isolation thing ain't that bad, if your building a trailer.

Wrapping up the bed frame and such.
Put the hinges on the rear of the bed for storage. The slide out drawer will be 20"w X 24" length and 10" deep.
Also more storage to the left.
Storage, storage, storage...........

Trying to lighten where I can, so recycled trim is slats for the rest of the beds non important sections.

Bed is done.
