Rear galley bulkhead mounting

Postby ColoradoDropGuy » Tue Feb 06, 2024 10:30 pm

After much debate I’ve decided to build out a cargo trailer conversion camper. The cargo trailer I’m ordering has rear barn doors and will work well with the galley I want to build in the rear. The trailer has 16” on center tube sidewall supports. I want to make the galley 24” deep. How should I mount the bulkhead? The floors are also 16”, the ceiling is 24”. I’ll be insulating all the way around.

I would glue wood same size as the tube members at 24" on the wall and ceiling and use them to pocket hole bulkhead.

Same as onajourney mentioned. Install the side wall plywood and if the edges of the bulkhead lands between wall struts add some plywood between those struts, between the exterior wall sheathing and the added plywood side walls to anchor the bulkhead where you need it. At that point you have options of using pocket screws or cleats to anchor the bulkhead.
