Just bought a new 10 x 10 Quick Shade from Sports Authority. $ 100.00. Worst investment ever. What a piece of crap. First time set up and first storm, it leaked everywhere. I found out that it is made by Bravo Sports Mfg. Bad news. What warranty?? They never answer their complaints. I will go to Walmart and get one of theirs "First up". At least I can take it back if it turns to junk.

I have a Quick Shade that I bought about 11-12 years ago and its the best one of the 4 I have of that style.

Most canopies are not really designed for rain, hence the name Quick "Shade".

There are so many different grades of canopies that even ones from the same manufacturer will yield different results. When people complain about their EZ-Up I take it with a grain of salt because I don't know exactly what they bought. My EZ-Up flew away in Hanksville, luckily fellow teardroppers were there to keep it from getting lost in BLM land. I ordered 2 pieces and it's good as new. I've also used it in more than a couple of storms, it leaks but like I mentioned before it really isn't designed for rain. Price of admission was a bit steep, but it's still fine after 6years though a bit dirtier.

I hear you about getting what you pay for. I had a Quick Shade 8 x 8 before and it worked fine. After purchase at Sports Authority, I read the receipt and it said do not bring it back if you have problems, go to the Mfg. My first thought was OH-OH, I am in deep doo doo now. And I was right. I am now rethinking a unit from Cabela's – E-Z Up® Express II™ Canopy. It is $ 129.00 but it says waterproof. It all gives you a head ache. I have heard the good and bad of all units so I guess you roll the dice and see what pops up.

You could try setting up your Quick Shade and spraying it with water proofing spray for tents. They usually sell that at most camp stores or camping sections of department stores. Depending on the reason for the leaks, it might work (unless there are holes in the canopy).

I have an EZ-UP I bought at Sams. It's a heavy shelter but has the full sides. There were a few bent arms on it, because it is not that " easy" to put up alone. They do sell parts to fix it. While ordering the parts I told the customer service girl that the failure seemed to be caused by the parts rusting from the inside where the bolts go through the arms. She said the units are not to be used in the rain. HUH. So you are on your own when they fail. It cost me 75 bucks to replace the parts. Can't say how long this one will last, but when the next parts break it's going in the trash and I'll by another brand.

When I bought mine I treated both like tents that I have bought brand new and put both up in the drive way and then I would pick up some water proofer at Walmart and spray it down. You need to leave out on a hot sunny day to let it dry. After doing this I never had any problems with the awnings keaking in rain storms!!
