Hello All!

Just a couple of pictures of my trip for those who care. I didn't post them all and are more in my album.

Packed up and leaving.

Image

Just a cute picture of the daughter being goofy.

Image

Twenty minutes after we arrive my son found a hole to drive into...after I made sure he was alright I made him pose for a picture...my wife fell bringing me the camera for the picture...I wonder were the kid gets his coordination? Her other sandal was about 10' away. By the way she will kill me when she reads this.

Image

Any buddy know this???

Image

While riding we found a couple girls stuck in a little puddle...they looked a little more happy after I went back and got the Excursion to pull them out.

Image

My dad following me around...he is 67 and going strong.

Image

One of his many other rides...

Image

Packed up to head back.

Image

Sturgis...they must of heard a Honda was coming to town and all the Harleys bugged out. Looks a lot different during Bike Week. Right Junkman??

Image

Mt Rushmore.

Image

Wall Drug.

Sorry...I posted more than I wanted!

The teardrop worked great...we did stay in motels a couple of night mainly because of the heavy rains and not wanting the kids soaked in the truck to teardrop transfer. It rained everyday at one point or another. Other than that a great trip and I met a lot of nice people out there.

I am not buying her any more shoes...she isn't one of those women that need a lot of them, but the ones she does have are all at the back door.

Man it looks like you had a good time. I think it's good to spend time with parents as they age. It real easy to get tied up with your own family and not spend enough time with mom and dad.

We always have a good time when we are together. I just wish he lived closer.

By the way my gas bill alone was $943.99. Wisconsin having the highest prices at $3.47...they have came down to $3.29 the last couple of days. Figures I don't need gas now! :(

The trip grand total miles was 3000...the Ford Excursion with the V10 gets 10-11 mpg with and without the TD.

The next TD will be light enough to get pulled by the mini-van.

Elmo:

Thank you for your quick response...

Given: Gas costs of $3.29-$3.47 per gal
So roughly you can figure out how much money your trip will cost ahead of
time by taking the mileage and dividing by 3 or approximately 1/3rd the
miles planned for the co$t of a trip. Or about 3000 / 11 = 273 X 3.45 =
$941.85 So close to 1/3rd of the total miles will be your gas cost or about
$315.00 per 1000 miles for your truck.

For another example between gas costs of $3.29-$3.47 per gal:
My Honda CR-V with my TD pulls @ about 22 Miles Per Gal.
So for a trip of 3000 miles my co$t would be 1/7th or divide by 7.
So for me it figures out to be (approximately) $150.00 per 1000 miles or $450.00 for
3000 miles.

The moral of the story is with a TV that gets better gas mileage and a TD
built light that the TV can pull with ease, a perfect storm for better economy can be your experience.

I figured a $1000 for gas before we left...I built a teardrop to haul a motorcycle and it is heavy...couldn't do it any other way. I could go out and buy a truck with better mileage, but this one is paid for and for what it would cost to get a new one would buy me lots of gas. Besides I need a 3/4 ton to pull my other camper. I wasn't complaining more of a FYI, but I would rather spend the money on the kids instead.

My next adventure starts tomorrow...I go do a Ride for Research...dual sport motorcycle ride for cancer.
