Took a little trip on the Lincoln Highway part 3

Onward we go. At this point we are back on HWY 30 heading for Carroll, Iowa, We are not following the true route of the LH at this point as we have no map telling where it ran. We will have to follow that at a later time. At Carroll we stopped at the Harley dealership, they always have a clean restroom and hot coffee. From Carroll we headed south on HWY 71 to Audubon, Iowa to see Albert the Bull, the largest bull in the world. He doesn't look it but he stands 30 feet tall.

Our next stop is Kimballton, Iowa to see the Little Mermaid, the only full size copy of the real one.

It's getting late, time to find a campground. We head west to Prarrie Rose State Park. We set up camp just as it got dark, time for a bite to eat and some rest. We slept in, as the temp was only 34 and there was a bit of frost, it's hard to leave a nice warm TD. Time to break camp and get back on the road again. Our next and last stop on this trip is Elk Horn, Iowa the largest Danish settlement in the U.S. We first stopped at the Danish Museum, they were not open yet so we just got a couple of pictures. I really like the small church.

The next stop in town was the Danish windmill, the only one in the U,S.

Time to go home. We followed the White Pole Road on our trip home, another historic route in our part of the state. We have no pictures, at this point our camera cards are full. We have traveled 550 miles within our own state, with only 30 of them on the interstate. It is a lot of driving for a day and a half, but the sights and the road were worth it!

We want to do that when we finish our Tear. Travel just in our home state of PA. There's so much to see here and we'll be fairly close to home for the first trips out. Can't wait! Thanks for sharing!
