My first trip.

Postby goramsey » Fri Apr 16, 2010 8:55 pm

April 14, 2010

I got up this morning and finished packing the Teardrop trailer. Didn’t take long. I hooked the Tear to the Jeep and carefully drove out of the driveway and onto the street. Stopped at Smith’s Market for Brea bakery bread and some tasty chicken for sandwich’s. I drove on over to Starbucks for a cup of Joe and a pastry. Grabbed that and started off for my first Teardrop trailer trip. Am heading to Zion National Park. The Tear towed perfectly.

What a beautiful day for a drive. Compared to the day before with 6 inches of snow in Cedar City. The Jeep pulled the Teardrop just fine. I got to the park and drove around a bit to find a good site. There are a lot of big RV’s. Whoa! A lot of people filling up the park. I feel like a sardine in a can. The best time to go to Zion is before or after the main season. After crusing around a few times, I found a nice little campsite and saw a Hunter Shadow Teardrop close by. They are from Northern CA.

I am just chilling out at about 5:00 PM shooting some video and still photos. The Tear looks fantastic. I just love it. I can hardly wait to sleep in it. This will be my first time sleeping in it outside of sleeping in it in the garage. Who hoo!

Great Photos

Postby Digger403 » Sat Apr 17, 2010 8:41 pm

A nice selection of photos, Gary. They definitely make me want to be out there (anywhere) camping.

My Little Guy Six-Wide is sitting on a transport trailer while the truck waits for parts. The good news is that I should have it in the driveway by Tuesday (at the latest).

You set up a nice camp, and you take great pictures... I hope you continue to post lots of those awesome Utah shots in the weeks to come.

Thanks all. I am putting the finishing touches on a video of the same trip. It is cool. I will post a link when it is ready. I am leaving for a project in Orange County CA. tomorrow, so I won't be able to finish it until I get back. Probably a week.

See you then.

Cheers,

Looks like you had a GREAT trip!

1. I have the same aluminum folding table, I love it.
2. How did your fridge perform? Did it drain your battery or anything? What model fridge is that?

Hi,

Yes, it was a hoot.

It is an "Engel M45" model refrigerator/freezer. Did not drain the battery very much. Very low consumption. All I can say is it is fantastic. Keeps food good and cold on #1 setting.

Nice selections of photos. It is really a unique way to enjoy holidays, preparing foods at the spot will be a nice experience. But i have not idea about its cost. How much it cost you. However it is nice post having unique ideas of camping .
