Change of plans

Postby goramsey » Mon Aug 23, 2010 12:00 pm

Well, I changed my mind again. The campground hosts at Red Canyon campground are so great. They said why go stay as long as you like. Far out said I. So I decided to stay a while more and hang in this beautiful place.

Woof, woof!!

Pulled into Pine Lake Campground about 5 years ago on Memorial Day Weekend. Beautiful place. The weather was about 70 during the day and dropped to 29 degrees that night. We stayed another night thinking it couldn't get colder-it made it down to 23 degrees. It was great camping. Happy to see you enjoying Red canyon Campground as well.

Hiking

Postby goramsey » Wed Aug 25, 2010 12:21 pm

Hiking what I thought was Cassidy trail. After two miles of walking up a wash full of rocks, I decided that this must not be the place. After I got back and reread the map I found out I was walking up Butch Cassidy draw not the trail. Oh, I still had a blast. No one out there be me and one deer.

The funny thing was here I am hiking in the middle of nowhere, and all of a sudden my phone goes off and says I have a voice mail. Now, I can't get one bar in the campground but out here I get five bars. Great coverage. You just never know where your phone will work.

New campground.

Postby goramsey » Thu Oct 07, 2010 12:24 pm

Now I am camping in California. I drove to CA and am now camping at Oak Grove campground in San Diego Co. area. Just west of Palomar mountain. Elevation is about 3000 ft. I have camped here many times over the years. Right now I am the only camper in the campground. I have it all to myself. Nice!! Very quiet. It is about 25 miles outside of Temecula CA. on Hwy 79.

The other day the wind came up and blew away my Bravo Quick Shade canopy. Broke it. Well, that solved my problem. The bugger leaked like crazy since I purchased it two months ago. I drove to Wal Mart in Temecula, stopped by Walmart and got a First Up canopy. What a difference. The First up is easy to set up with one person. It rained and the First Up worked great. No leaks. It is a much better product than Bravo Quick Shade. Much better!!!!!!!

Love your pictures. I so enjoy these types of threads, especially those with tales and pictures from out west. We live in the most beautiful country on earth, and someday I will get to see the left half of it. Thanks for sharing...truly balm for the soul for those of us with no vacation time.

Great TD, by the way. One of my favorite profiles.
