Sudden Camping Trip 4/14/12-4/15/12

Hi All,

It was such a beautiful weekend here in the Blue Ridge Mountains, that I could not stand the idea of staying indoors! Decided spur-of-the-moment on Saturday afternoon would drive over to Davidson River Campground for a "walk-up" site (they only had 3 left!). It is about 45 minutes from home, local enough to be local, but far enough to "get away". We had a lot of fun! Great to get a break! Because of the camper, we were already 1/2 packed before we started!

I should mention also that I gave two "tours" of the camper. One fellow was a tent camper, who asked "Is that like a teardrop? I've been wanting to see one of those". He also commented, "That's really all you need, isn't it"?

Another fellow, friendly fellow with one of those big "coach" campers - He was interested, liked it, basically said "If you're happy with it, all that matters". He asked about weight, mentioned probably saves a lot of gasoline. He apparently lives in his coach camper several months of the year.

Family had fun, the Weekender-for-5 was good camping. Great weekend in the Pisgah Mountains! Now happy Monday, back to work!

AL.

How we built a 5x8 camper for a family of 5, using a utility trailer with an incorporated bunk bed for the kids.
From plain trailer to campground!

Yes, they are! My middle daughter told me on Saturday, "Daddy, I really like the camper because our family has fun camping in it, and I helped build it and we all built it together!" It really made my day!

What a great memory! Wish my kids were older to help with the build.
