Our First Gathering - Walk the Winds 2013

Well we finished our trailer this spring and had a few trips under our belt. We figured it was time to see what a teardrop gathering was all about. We started looking for one within a days drive. There were a lot of post about Walk the Winds in Wyoming and it sounded like fun. We got in touch with Mike (Slow Cowboy) to see if they had room and get the details. He told us to come up and have a good time.

We headed out Thursday morning and after about 5 hours we pulled into New Fork Lake Group Campground North of Pinedale, WY. This campground is a nice change from the places we normally camp. The first thing we noticed is that it's a few miles from the main road and there weren't NO ATV's so it was nice and quiet. :) Walk the Winds is a pretty small gathering. This year there were about 15 trailers which worked out very well. I'll have to admit we really weren't sure what to expect, but we were pleasantly surprised.

As soon as we pulled into camp we started making friends. It was like "Hey there ... Welcome to the teardrop family". Everyone we met was really nice and very helpful. One of the big draws to Walk the Winds for us is that there isn't a tight schedule of events. The main events were the pot luck dinner on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday. Other than that we all had time to just relax and have a great time enjoying the outdoors. It was really great to meet some of the people we had been chatting with on TNTTT. Everyone there was happy to show us there trailers and give us helpful hints and ideas. Wolf Farmer (Randy) was there with a wealth of knowledge about Coleman lanterns and stoves. Ryan explained how he used a model airplane Watt Meter to monitor his battery. Will and Carl with their ideas for hatch supports that can handle the Wyoming winds. Ron and Pam showed us how they modified a regular tent into a snap on side room. They had also turned a tarp into a nifty awning. We even got to meet the "Legendary" Grant Whipp (sorry Kay. I just couldn't resist  ) and got pointers on how to fix some of our problem areas. These are just a few of the wonderful people we meet. Thank you all for letting us join you, it was awesome.

A special thanks to Mike for hosting Walk the Winds. We had a great time and are looking forward to being there next year.

Glad to hear you enjoyed Walk the Winds. From the pictures, it looks like a great gathering and we hope to do it sometime. That first gathering just starts the fever and it is contagious, we are sure you will be looking for more to attend.
