Caprock Canyon State Park, TX

Postby jss06 » Thu Mar 20, 2014 9:04 am

I went camping for a long weekend at Caprock Canyons State Park in the Texas Panhandle this last weekend.

My new tow vehicle did very well. Especially when you consider the high winds that were blowing while driving. The Cherokee averaged about 17.5MPG for the round trip with 20 to 40 MPH head and side winds. Total trip was just shy of 600 miles.

This is the only picture I took of the Jeep and Trailer.

These are Pics I took of the park itself. I found out how out of shape I really am. A 3 Mile easy hike cleaned my clock. Definitely need to get out more.
The park itself is beautiful even in the middle of a drought.

Great photos. Definitely the best time of year to visit.

Were you tempted to take the trail to the railway tunnel and back?

Yes, it was tempting. But after the short hike wore me out, I realized I needed to be in better shape before I attempted the tunnel.

Great photos. Your teardrop looks very nice behind your TV.
Did you get any photos of your campsite that you could post?

I enjoyed your pictures. I was supposed to be there, but had to cancel for a friends wedding Sat. Night. I go down there on a regular basis and go hiking. My favorite hike is to Fern Cave, and back. There are several routes you can take. Also I take my trailer down there 4 or 5 times a year. Just try to avoid the real hot weather. Ronnie

No actually. For some reason I did not take any. I was suprised when I got home and did not have a single one.
