Weekend at Crystal Lake, CA

Postby sealbeachbum » Wed May 07, 2014 3:01 pm

We just did a quick weekend trip to Crystal Lake in the San Gabriel Mountains just North of Azusa, CA. I love it up there! It is only an hour and a half drive from our home in Huntington Beach and a whole nother world! The camp sites are well spaced apart and it wasn't crowded. We will be doing lots of weekend trips up there!

I probably shouldn't say this but I remember when there was a big lodge down by the lake. Boy I'm getting old :?

:applause: One more thank you for sharing photos of your weekend camp spot. Crystal Lake Campground looks peaceful and beautiful.

I looked up information on the campground. It's only $12 to camp there. It seems like it might be a nice location for a teardrop gathering. There is even a well rated trading post, snack bar and cafe nearby.

Crystal Lake Camp Grounds, Azusa, California has a considerable amount of information about the camp grounds amenities.
Crystal Lake Rec Area Campground information from the US forest service.
crystallakecafe looks like a fun place for a meal.

I used to go there as a kid, then it was closed for years and years due to a fire. I'm going to have to go back. Thanks for the pics :) :)

Looks like you almost had the place to yourselves, that's the good kind of camping.
