American adventure in a Lonely Teardrop

Postby wild-life » Sun Jun 01, 2014 6:08 pm

Hello, I am new to posting on the boards but have been perusing them for a while now!
My husband and I bought a Lonely Teardrop trailer built by Allen Moore, from a lady on Craigslist last winter, and after some modifications (deep cycle battery, new fiberglassed thru bolted struts for the hatch since the old ones kept popping off, & lots of aluminum buffing), we are now travelling & camping across country with it on our honeymoon! We are beyond thrilled with it. We have been doing lots of national forest dispersed camping, it goes pretty much everywhere we want to take it. Just wanted to post some photos of our! So far we have travelled from Northern California, to washington, to yellowstone national park and now we are in Colorado. We have more photos on our travel blog at http://coastdogs.tumblr.com
Cheers!!

I wanted to add that we got married last September, and we had a dream of finding a teardrop for our honeymoon roadtrip. I built a tiny foot-long replica of a teardrop trailer as a well-wishing box for folks to drop notes in at our wedding - a kind of idealized dream trailer. The universe listened and a few months later we found the perfect one on Craigslist, drove up to Oregon and brought it home!

Nice how it all came together for your honeymoon trip and the teardrop well wish!! Enjoyed your photos too! How do you find travelling with the dogs? Have comtemplated taking our dog but it seems it would be a LOT of extra to deal with!

Thanks all! We are having a blast! Been on the road for about a month now.
As far as the dogs go - They have adapted to the travelling lifestyle quite well! they overnight it in the car, where they have the whole back of the car with the seats folded down, as well as the front seats. We keep most of our stuff in our space-case-tule rack so the dogs have as much room as possible. They are out and about with us most of the day. It's really fun having them along for the adventure and they seem to be really enjoying the trip. We got the teardrop so we'd have a dog-hair-free bed zone (we were considering a toyota chinook camper or a vanagon before we decided on a teardrop - but decided against having an all inclusive space... dogs love people beds and ours are always out swimming and getting filthy!)
Cheers!
