So I have a cross country trip starting this Friday. I am starting in Kansas City and going to Oregon then Washington and back. Of course all the states in between will be hit up as well. I have everything planned out except a night in Montana somewhere. Any suggestions?

I believe it was called Spruce Park in Kalispell, MT. I camped there twice on the Flathead River. I believe my campsite was F7. Absolutely beautiful country and 20 miles from Glacier National Park. Kalispell has a number of outfitter stores and is less than a mile away.

What highway are you coming across on? I90? Lots of USFS stuff west of Bozeman. Can you narrow it down a bit? There's probably a million good spots west of there.

ParTaxer, that looks like an amazing area but perhaps a bit far north. Tony to answer your question, we will be traveling on I90 through the state from Seattle to Mt Rushmore. So the Butte, Bozeman, Helena, or Missoula area would make for a good halfway point. I am not opposed to camping a bit off the highway for a beautiful location. My only "requirement" is shore power for the wife.

Thank you in advanced!

Hmmmmm, shorepower. I'm a boondocker so this is a bit outside my box!

Montana has a great state parks system and I think they have power hookups at their campsites. Here's their webpage: http://stateparks.mt.gov/camping/

And here's a state map with the parks: http://stateparks.mt.gov/export/sites/P ... t.html#map I count about 18 along your route.

If you confirm with them they have power, I'd focus on any of the campgrounds at the parks. Some gorgeous places.

Happy camping.

Tony
