Big Rattle Snake Creek

Postby teamredjeep » Sat May 09, 2015 9:52 am

With the lack of snow in California and the Sierra's we headed out to Lake Moran earlier in the season than usual. We found out the forest service has blocked access to the rarely used lake off the beaten path. It's really a shame when public land is blocked from public use. I have seen no environmental reasons to protect this lake? I will have to research why it was blocked. I guess maybe they feel neatly placed boulders in a row are better then the one occasional idiots tire tracks that goes where he should not. Even at Big Rattle Snake Creek they lined the creek side with boulders. Kind of ruins your back country experience when you drive an hour on a trail just to arrive at a site that has been altered by man. Never the less we found a wonderful spot to camp on Big Rattle Snake Creek to enjoy our TD, we just did not have a lot of water to paddle around in a kayak.

Very nice. That second pic is very reminiscent of Bargamin Creek at the Poet Creek Campground.

The pictures look good. Thanks for sharing. :applause:
Getting out into the Sierras early this year is a good idea; as, sadly, I suspect we will have fire storms this dry summer that will alter the mountains for years to come. :(
