Our Summer in Alsace

Hi All my new TD had its first long trip this year.

We went to Alsace which is in the North East corner of France. It's been fought over for hundreds of years and so has its own look and feel.
Not French not German.

It is a long run down the Belgian border about 700 miles from my house. Plenty of opportunity to picnic.

It was very hot this year in Europe mid to late 30C which would be around 100F
I made a sun cover which came in handy

156599

Many things to see

156605
156600

A motor museum in Mulhouse (Germany) has Fangio's Ferrari, not like Fangio's Ferrari but the real deal.

156608

And eat

It was the area where a lot of fighting took place in the wars. This is a mausoleum to commemorate the dead. Many died defending Dormans.

156607

The locals make a lot of wine and kick back with soapbox racing.

This is our last camp and breakfast in bed for some.

Hi tiiiii85 (great handle)

I used to use Belgium down through Luxembourg and onto Metz, but those motorways are very busy and not in great condition.

Recently I have been heading down the east side of France using the A25 as its free. First night in Guise; 500km Plus ferry from my house.
If you go down the A26 to Reims it's 60 Euro toll each way.

French motorway tolls have increased enormously in recent years making route planning more interesting.

Yeah, Belgian highways are pretty bad. Luxembourg on the other side has them better than the autobahn, but traffic can be insane (too many cross borders). I recommend you to visit Luxembourg once. Nice nature and nice castles to visits. And close enough to France to get nice food. :D
And if you do, drop a pm, so we can see each other teardrops! (although mine is still in the making).
